Current setup is:

e8400 @ 3.6 (cant seem to get it any higher)
4gb ddr2 800
4870
250gb sata drive
All housed in a battered chieftec dragon :D

Mainly used for css + bc2 at the moment :)

Anything worth upgrading or is it worth waiting abit longer? Iv got about £200ish to spend and iv got the urge! :(

For £200...no. If you can push the budget to £300, then you can get a 5850 at around £220-£230 and 2nd hand Q6600 £70-£80. You might be able to sell the E8400 for £50-£60, and 4870 512MB for £50-£60/1GB for £70.

well for bc2, both a quad and a GPU would help, so I'd go for a 5850 or something first then up upgrade to a 2nd hand quad, pretty much what Marine-RX179 said

A better mobo would allow you to get your chip up to 4+GHz. Could try and get a P5Q pro/turbo/deluxe second hand for cheap. Very happy with my board, easy as pie to clock.

EDIT: just saw you're running 800MHz RAM, which may limit your OC, so don't bother with that. See if you can get a cheap q6600 second hand and clock that up a bit.

my mobos a p5n-e sli if i remember rightly i dont know if its my ram holding me back as its just bog standard generic ddr2 800

You won't see a huge performance difference between a decently clocked Q6600 and a phenom quad tbh considering how much extra cost is involved.
