Well I have just been sent an e-mail from the PA that Nadhim Zahawi (Stratford Conservative MP) is visiting the office on the 4th May for 45 minutes to chat with us.

Looking forward to tonights debate. Not so much for the leaders but to see what they say, I'm not interested in the leaders personalities.

Tory or Lib dem for me now, although this being Scotland what's the point? The drones will be out voting SNP and Labour regardless.

Only problem for me is:

Tory - Scotland is always at the bottom of any priority, if they need somewhere to try out a new tax it'll be here they try it first.

Lib Dems - Defense is weak, too vague over trident. Fiscal policy not as strong as the tories and probably afraid to make the big decisions if they got into power.

I always vote as if the party I vote for will be the winner, I don't believe in voting for a party because it's popular. It's just that the Greens etc have nothing to offer me that'd win my vote. They're too unrealistic, bigoted or downright daft.

I actually quite like Gordon Brown, seems like a normal bloke in a difficult job. That's the problem though - PM shouldn't be average Joe.

I hate that people wont just vote for who they want to, old fashioned saying like "lib dems will never get in" are only true because people have that saying stuck in their head from ten years ago

the torys saying vote clegg get brown and labour saying vote clegg get tory seems to be working at putting people off voting LD when obviously anyone can get in if they get enough votes

Yes well under Labour, you've been top of any priority for 13 years, so now its time for England and our people to have some good times.

Yes I'm on about Free elderly care , free prescriptions etc etc.

Sick of this country being run by bloody Scots!!

Interesting, didn't know that - I thought it was rolled out nationally

He is unfortunately correct, the Poll Tax was rolled out in Scotland before the rest of the UK. It was introduced in Scotland in 1989 follows in 1990 in England and Wales, It didn't last long as no-one paid it and there was civil unrest everywhere. It was abolished in 1993 and replaced with the Council tax system we have now, also introduced by a Tory Govt.

The LibDems local income tax will like the Community Charge, apply to the individual rather thn the property, so if both you and your partner are in work you will pay more than the next door neighbour with a single earner will pay for the same services.

A ComRes poll for ITV News/The Independent shows the Conservatives extending their lead to seven points as Liberal Democrats struggle to maintain their recent poll surge:

Conservatives: 36%
Labour : 29%
LibDems : 26%

A ComRes poll for ITV News/The Independent shows the Conservatives extending their lead to seven points as Liberal Democrats struggle to maintain their recent poll surge:

ComRes seem to be quite consistent in showing Conservatives doing better, and the LibDems doing worse compared to other polls. All the other major polls are still showing the LibDems in 2nd, and the Tories not having such a big lead.

I don't know why this should be, but I'd assume it's something to do with how they collect, and analyse, their data. It'll be interesting to see which of the polling companies gets it right on the day.

Statistical weighting

Yeah, that's one of the possibilities - another is collection technique - but I don't know why ComRes seems to differ from the others in the way they're doing this. Maybe they're weighting for likelyhood to vote, or not weighting or something

They all use random sampling and fairly similar collection techniques - the difference between them are how they weight their data. If you visit their sites they show you how they do it.
