Hi all!

I've not built a PC in many years, i used to be massively into the building scene and would never have a computer not built by myself. But time etc came in the way, and keeping up to date is more important in this area than any other. So with my last built PC being a 486 I come to the current expert with my first build in over 10 years.

My budget is at most £1000, and I've kept the pieces I've set up at £900 in case of unexpected costs. I've been reading the forum for a week or two taking in the advice of various users and also tried to squeeze in as many This week only offers without compromising on quality. I have not overclocked a PC in a long time, and I might consider getting a ready overclocked bundle rather than risk it.

My main use will be online gaming, like the upcoming guild wars 2, Warhammer online and I also play offline games like Empire Total war, and the hopefully soon to come Civilization 5.

So please take a look at this build, and if you got time give me some advice on the choices I've made, and maybe better options. Thanks in advance to those who help, and thanks to those who already have helped by offering advice to other posters.

Looking good with a psu added, only things I would consider are whether the 965 processor is worth the extra over the 955 and possible alternatives to the Antec 300 such as the Akasa Freedom Xone or Zalman Z7.

For motherboard, you could consider paying £20 more for a Gigabyte GA-890GPA-UD3H:

it also support crossfire in 8x/8x, and has a newer chipset, two usb3.0 and six sata 6gb/s as extra.

what performance effect do you reckon i'll get from the six core over the quad?
the x6 1090t would be fast for heavy threaded applications and games (i.e. battlefield bad company 2), slower than 955/965be in most games in general that are not optimised for using the extra cores effectively. also, particular poor performance in crysis, bottlenecking both hd5970 and gtx480 big time:

Cpu cooler is indeed a good point would be a bit...woops if I got all the parts and didnt have a cooler :D

Would something like http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-035-AR&groupid=701&catid=57&subcat=1395 be sufficient?

I'd personally go for: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-067-TR&groupid=701&catid=57&subcat=1395

Especially if you decide to overclock your CPU, if you're not going to overclock then it won't matter so much.

Added the recommended cooler and upgraded the Mobo, it brings me up to 1050....which is a bit to much....will have another look later tonight and see what i can skimp on :)
