I'd say no, the lib dems couldn't/wouldn't trust them, they'd just stall and call another election in less than a year, blame the lib dems for causing stalemate and watch the electorate punish them. They'd be mad to.

Now that's a coalition, a agreement to support them on certain policies is more likely.

Sorry, alliance was the wrong word, but I'd like to see agreements between the two.

Do I vote Lib Dem and hope for a hung parliament so that Cons/Lib policies both have a chance (still need to look into the effects this would have from an independent viewpoint), or do I vote conservative and accept the bits I don't agree with (probably leading to strikes if the changes actually developed)?

A hung parliament would be a disaster.

I would put Cameron as the 'winner' but there was no knockout blow at any point. Clegg stumbled a couple of times on the Euro and the immigrant amnesty. Brown was very negative in his closing remarks.

A hung parliament would be a disaster.

There is absolutely no way of knowing that, it would only be a disaster if the leaders refused act like grown ups, it could in a best case force them to adopt moderate middle of the road policies (which are almost certainly the best option right now, all three parties are playing too much to their ideology for the real world).

It's amazing what the tv debates have done for libdems
More aptly, it's amazing what they didn't do for the Tories - Cameron was one of the ones in favour of them back in December last year remember and most people thought that he would benefit from them.

As it happens, the debates may well have played a large part in the Tories failing to win an election which they had been odds-on to do for about 3 years. Doh.

Yes and they joined many years ago. this is not then.

Why would EU allow us to leave, take our money and everything we give and yet still give us all the benefits, EU would gain nothing from it. it is wishful thinking and I would bet EU would not allow it.

Rubbish, they allow Norway, and they allow Switzerland, both of which have shown that they are actually better off staying out of the EU. The UK has goods and trade that benefits Continental Europe and vice versa. The EU would have nothing to gain from breaking trade ties just because its people want out of a political federation that not one of us has had a vote in joining in the first place.

I think (as said) vote for a someone who'll represent your area, find out who can win in your constituency first (it's unlikely anybody can, it'll be two of the big parties in the running) and find out about the candidates.

This might be an election where it actually makes sense to vote for something beyond party ideology.
