Hi, please help. At work we are trying to get the IT dept to buy some dual graphics cards so we can have 2 TFT setups for the helpdesk.

They recently upgraded all PCs to be the very slimline PC with the small form PCI slots. So we can't just go and buy dual head graphics cards. So we've bought a ATi FireMV2200 card to test.

It has 1 DVI output, with a dual DVI Cable to connect it to thus allowing us to connect to 2 screens.

Our argument so far has been will it allow a dual screen setup ie not just cloned screens but either extended desktop or proper dual screen setup.

Does anyone know. I have read the ATi site loads but it doesn't actually specify the graphics display options.

damn, I may have lost the bet with my colleagues then. I would have hoped it would at least extended the desktop putting 2 screens on a card I hoped it would increase the resolution.

yes. The connector isn't a DVI 'splitter' it's a DMS-59 to 2x DVI (iirc), you can also get DMs-59 to VGA etc..

we use a couple in work for the very same reason (low profile)

Works as you'd expect (i.e. like every other dual head card...), but they are more pricy (~£60 + ) when a cheapy £20 nvidia can do the same thing, if only it would fit.

if you got the cable that comes packed with the fireMV series, then yes its possible because the card has a DVI-I port.

it doen't have a DVI port... It's a DMS-59 port, as specified in the 'specs' on the OPS link., this (common) confusion is also explained in the wiki article I linked.
