Swapped my car

My matiz was advertised for £1000, i got one offer of £800 but said no. So matiz was worth £800.

I did a straight swap for the ford. So that makes the ford costing £800. And £800 for a new panel + fitting + spray = £1600.

That explain it better?

I'd have personally sold the Matiz and bought a tidy Mk2, but it sounds like you've already got it. Sort the bumper and light (yes they're easy jobs), bash the dents out with a mallet so there arent any sharp edges and just leave it. Put the cash into savings for a better car and run this one into the ground in the mean time

Would it be worth sanding/spraying myself too?

Ive done plenty of spraying, but only on car platics, never metal
 
Do you want it to be mint, or are you bothered about driving around in a car with a big dent?

I really would just put the 800 quid towards saving for something better

Well with the rest of the car being so clean i would like to get it sorted in some way.

Im sure a couple of hundred would get the dents knocked out and a touchup on the paint.

I just wanted to know if it was worth the £800 price for the replacment panel.

And i think it's safe to say from the replys it's a no :p

I went and seen the last one, the car wasn't too bad, a couple of scratches but over all ok. I asked how much cash he would want with my matiz and he said 1k :p

For the sake of £200 you'd rather buy a car that's knackered and go through the hassle of repairing it ?
 
Thats the max it would cost me to get the panel replaced.

I was asking if that was worth doing, which it's obviously not. So ill just get the panel repaired instead which will cost a couple of hundred

So you're going to drive round in a car with a crap rear bumper and cracked light (Is that even legal?) ?

The max it will cost? That is the hardest most expensive panel to replace. I did similar damage to mine a few years back and the bill was thousands!
 
I have a mate that works at a scrap yard, the bumper and light cost me nothing (Same color bumper too :D)

Well i say free i ordered them and ill have to cover sending them over to me (too far for me to collect)

And had to pay for a wheel trim as he didn't have any (cost more than i thought =\ )

As i said, ive already had the quote, and it would normaly cost £1200 but they are willing to do it for £800 as ive known them for years and put a lot of work there way. They also do all the insurance repairs in the area.

If your mate works at a scarpyard, surely, he'll be able to fit it for you..
 
Right, car itself was a swap for the matiz, only offer i had for it after a month was £800.

So for arguments sake we will say the car cost £800 based on that.

Car: £800
Bumper and Light: £20 for the delivery
Wheel trim: £15 :o

Now for the cost of the panel, i have only had one quote which was for the whole panel to be replaced, which is £800, and at a guess id say £200 for the dents to be nocked out + spray touchup?

So at the moment ive spent £35 as the matiz did not cost me anything. So if i can get the repair done for £200 ive got it all for £235

If i have messed up with this car i blame you lot anyway :p i made a thread about advise and nobody replyed :p
