Swapped my car

Presumably though it did not need a new wing to fix it then?

Well it's the rear quarter, which is part of the chassis, so - no, you can't just unbolt it.

It was pulled and resprayed.

The matiz was not even that good for MPG. As soon as you hit a hill the car cryed.

Full tank cost £35 and about 270 miles was what i got out of it, not sure what that is mpg wise, but it seems pretty low to me for a car that aint even a litre :(

about 40mpg, not bad. I used to get 55-60 from a 1.0 citroen AX though...

No it's a genuine question, why would someone swap a Mondeo for a Matiz unless there was something badly wrong with the Mondeo?

read all OPs posts/pictures and then think about what you said. its pretty clear that theres something badly wrong with the mondeo :p it has about 1.5k worth of panel/paint/bumper damage that no one else would bother fixing due to the value of the car. but OP is getting mates rates

I'm sure I'm going to get completely flamed and insulted for this but here we go.

'Mates Rates' is the most overstated thing ever. Do any of you have such good mates they'd do a £1500 job for you for just £800? Effectivly giving away £700? That takes more than just a good mate, that takes a seriously, seriously wealthy mate.

Who probably wouldnt spray cars for a living.

Can any of you afford to lose out on £700 to help a mate who has just picked up a pikeydeo?

It's not really losing out on £700 is it though? That money isn't going to be coming directly out of the mate's pocket, nor would it ever had likely to have gone into the pocket in the first place. Coachworks is mostly labour related anyway, so charging less just means that the mate will receive a slightly lower hourly rate - That is better than nothing!

I don't see the problem with helping out people when you can. You see it loads of times in the motor trade. We get reduced priced MOTs, around a 15% discount on coachworks stuff (both labour and parts), discounted parts and that's not to mention the endless possbilities of cash in hand jobs. You don't even need to know the person, just being in the trade seems to be enough. For example, I got a 15% discount on some parts I ordered for my BMW at a main dealer for no other reason that I had my Bentley gear on.
"In the trade?"
"Yup."
"Okay, I've put a bit of a discount in there for you".
Result! :)

I've seen straight MK3 Ghias for 1200.
I think I would cry if I had to pay someone 800 quid to do that work but appreciate you've now got the car and don't want to drive around with it looking like that...

It's totally dependent on the job, person and scale of business.

I've friends who would and have taken a loss to help good friends out and most of the time can afford to do it.

It's swings and roundabouts, its not like I'd get a fantastic deal and then sod off and never see him again.
