Anyone buying FIFA World Cup??

I have it orderd on rent will pick it up later. I found the demo to be better the fifa 10 sharper all round.

Really looking forward to the online world cups, would get really exciting if you manage to the semis and finals.

Plus it will make a change then playing against barca and real madrid all the time.

Posted in main thread, but go here as well.

Really surprised they are pushing this at £40!

Just goes to show people will buy anything from EA, if this was IW people would be up in arms with boycotts everything. But becase it's Fifa/EA, it's fine.

From the main thread, but incase you don't read it :p -

Ok, having got the game and played through a World Cup and a couple of online games, I am very impressed.

It's not a huge leap over FIFA10, but that isn't such a bad thing.

Some points first of all -

There are a good amount of gameplay improvements, I would be sat here for quite a while listing them all, but the main ones are as Davey said before -

  • General improvements to controlling the ball

  • The Goalkeepers are no longer superhuman, they are beaten a lot more easily, and seem better at rushing staying in goal etc

  • The ball physics have been altered, the ball moves quite a bit differently and shots tend to curl in a more realistic manner

  • The graphics are slightly improved, player shirts move more and the pitch looks FAR better than in FIFA10. The Football boots have been updated to most of the new ones which I liked :p and the players change them with kits etc, another nice touch.

  • Penalties as said, are hugely improved and are somewhat more difficult to score!

  • Commentators aren't really better, but a nice change as they are different

  • The World Cup atmosphere is captured very well and adds to the overall feel of the game well

  • Online play was lag free and there are quite a lot of online game modes that seem very interesting

If, like me, you've played FIFA10 to death and feel like a change, I wouldn't really hesistate (and glad I didn't) to spend £40 and get this, it will keep you entertained probably until FIFA11.

Any questions etc, please ask ;) :D

Have you got your Xbox wired up with surround sound ? If so, do you find that the commentary is really quiet compared to the crowd noises ?

I have to put the crowd to 25% ish and commentary on full to even slightly hear them.

I have it on PS3, but yeah, the crowd do drown out the commentators quite badly, I've got the crowd set to about 20% aswell, can hear them quite ok. I'm just using my TV's default speakers but obviously its just a generic issue.

Can you play Road to the World Cup too or is it just the World Cup Finals you can play?

As said, you can play Friendlies, to Qualifying, to the Finals if you like, plenty of depth ;)

Ah that's great to know its not just me. I couldn't work it out as other games were fine including Fifa 10. I was trying to troubleshoot to see if my SS was faulty. Thanks for letting me know.

No problem, it's pretty much fine with the crowd turned down as a fix, but it seems a bit of an error on EA's part.

Sometimes the crowd do get really loud all of a sudden still, and drown out what the commentator says :p

Yeah i know, sometimes its mental. I couldn't work it out to begin with. I quite like the crowd in this game now. One thing I missed about Fifa is a good atmosphere, this is bang on (although a tad loud).

they were too easy to beat already!
Atleast the rushing off the line is fixed.

That depends on the situation, it's quite a bit harder to lob them now, and to even lob an open goal, which is a bonus as it was boring having a 100% 1v1 scoring record :p

Haha, gotta say this game makes me laugh.

It's a wicked game, but just find it funny how I got to the online world cup final as Spain, unbeaten for all group etc and the other player was a 1 star team, but yet his players were waaaaaay faster and stronger than Torres, Villa, Puyol etc.

The game must boost the other team, surely...as his team was more like 5 Stars than 1!

I imagine it has to, otherwise if you live in a certain country, say, Iraq, playing against someone from Spain, it's a real uphill struggle for them :p

Having played quite a few more games on this now it is starting to feel more and more like a different game to FIFA10, if you have resisted getting it, I'd like to re-iterate that you won't be disappointed.

Rent it if you must, then when you go back to FIFA10 it will feel like something is wrong.

There are a huge amount of gameplay improvements, mainly to the shooting and goalkeeping, its very VERY different.

Glad I shelled out the £37 :p
