What temperature should a 8800gt be reaching in normal gameplay??

Mine goes straight to 90~ish, just wondering if this is the norm ( ive never checked the temps before even though ive had it for a while lol)

its about 64 in idle
case: antec 300, extra sharkoon 1000 in the front aswell.

Also, is it worth upgrading to a 5850?
(i have a Q6600, 8gb Kingston ram, 600wOCZ stealthxtream psu.)

Thanks

I have the same card as in your sig and mine is sitting at 76c idle in a P182 (although I have two hot hard drives infront of the intake fan which is infront of it), fan spinning at 4285RPM (36%) at the moment. During game play it hits 90-100% and around 82-85c I think. I flashed the bios to a newer version from BFG which makes the fan spin from 45% during gameplay to 90-100%.

Noise is a lot more noticable now and my friend said it annoyed him, I am used to it and dont notice it during gameplay :P

Mine often hits up to 108C when gaming. Sits at about 71C at idle, with fan turned right down (~25%) because it's so noisy.

Get an accelero s1 for it can pick them up for £10 second hand well worth doing if you plan on keeping the 8800gt for a good time. You'll get virtually silent and low temps 40c gaming load with a low rpm 120mm fan cable tied to it.

I was going to do this, going for a 5770 instead now though, this old card is struggling on the newer games now :(

This is what i am considering, but i have the "if i spend an extra £10..." bug, it ends up being about £200 more than what i started to look at :S

Is the 5850 worth the price, or should i wait till later in the year as my 8800gt is coping on most games atm (seems to do well on BC2)?

Yeah I know how it is lol! The 5770 would do me fine though, I'm not a hardcore gamer, I just happen to like more than a max of 25fps :P

I went from a 9800 (same card as you) to one of these. It is epic. Sheer epic. And can clock to 5870 performance levels and a fair way past.

Having said that, if you only game on a single one of your dual screens, it might be overkill for you.
