They have sent like 3 letters saying they are going to send somebody round to my flat and if they find any evidence of tv broadcasting blah blah blah

Scare mongering government, I'm moving out in a month LOL

Cba.

I've gone into hiding, well scared.

Why should i pay for it? I don't watch TV.

If a stranger comes upto you and strikes up a conversation about eastenders or doctor who........ Its a trap !!

Prove you don't.

You don't watch iPlayer? Listen to non-commercial radio? Use the BBC website for news and sport?

Pay it you tight-ass.

Since when do you need a licence to watch iplayer or use the BBC website?! Pretty sure it only applies if you use your computer to watch broadcast tv at the same time as it is being broadcast on conventional channels.

The service is provided as an additional benefit to license payers. Hence why it's not available from geolocated IP addresses outside of the UK. And that is also the reason that viewing the BBC website from outside the UK means you are subject to advertisments.

What the hell? If he's not using any live tv broadcasts he doesn't have to pay, that the BBC fund other thing with the license fee is their problem, not his.

Nope. From the TV licencing website FAQ's.

Will I need a TV Licence to watch programmes on BBC iPlayer?

If you use the BBC iPlayer to watch TV programmes at the same time as they are being shown on TV (live) then you will need to be covered by a valid TV Licence. You can buy a TV Licence online.

If you use the BBC iPlayer to watch BBC programmes after they have been broadcast either to download or via streaming on demand then you will not need a TV Licence.
