Official 10.4 drivers out now

Soooooooooo.... what's the crack?

I have the 10.4 previews installed and they *were* fine but today I got the freeze and driver recovered issue twice (coincidence?).

Do I upgrade to the officials or stay put?

Well it isn't really an "upgrade" as such as they are older, but they could well be more stable if you don't mind the missing fixes.

have tried both 10.4 and 10.4a, no difference to me. On official 10.4 now, installed over previous drivers, yeah initially defaulted to generic drivers but a simple reboot and all is well. Gained 1fps on Heaven 2.0, woot, LOL.:D

I came from 10.3's to 10.4a's becasue the loading times where to slow. 10.4a's work wonders. However, I did notice some black spots on the ground when moving and dirt 2 was at 40fps most of the time. I moved onto the 10.4's and bc2 loading time is great (7-8 secs) they seem smoother and dirt 2 runs fine again :)

Well, guess I'll try the Linux 10.4s and see if there's any improvement. Hope springs eternal and all that....

Well, initial impressions are that they still suck at this. Still won't play nice with my dual-screen setup, CCC still won't load with admin level access....will try a few games later on and see if raw performance has improved at all. Not going to hold my breath.

Nope, still crap. Going to try them out with Ubuntu 10.04 tonight, just waiting for the CD image to come down on this crappy internet connection. Maybe a completely fresh install will help.

This normally causes problems with ATI drivers failing to install..... Is it relevant to your scenario?

Unlikely....:D

Did a fresh install of Ubuntu Lucid, and installed the ATi drivers from the download off their website (i.e. running 'sudo sh ati-whateverthehellthefileiscalled.run' from the terminal). The drivers installed, but interestingly they didn't install a shortcut to the CCC in System -> Preferences so at the moment I'm running it from the terminal ('sudo amdcccle'). When I can be bothered to stick a launcher in the menu I'll do it.

Damn things wont install for me........

Tried installing over 10.3, didn't work, screen flashed to 640x480 and stayed there with the warning box saying drivers haven't installed..

Then tried a completely clean install, same result......

Plods back to 10.3's........ffs

EDIT:

10.3's just installed perfectly first time, so i don't know whats going on with this 10.4 installer but it doesn't like my system at all.

Same happened to me when I installed 10.4 on windows 7. I tried again, this time making sure they "Run As Administrator" and all installed fine.
