Can any one suggest a fantasy RPG game that meets these requirments..

1: must be newish (made in the last 5 years) with goodish graphics.

2: 3rd person

3: set in a world like WoW, lord of the rings, oblivion (with swords and magic :D)

4: A non liner story

5: Fun gameplay

6: good char creation/maintanance

I have just bought dragon age origins.. and i cant get the hang of it. the whole controlling a team is really P'ing me off. I want to get in the thick of action not pauseing it every 5 seconds to make sure every ones got health and who/where they are attacking from etc ><
So far i have played

Oblivion (not 3rd person but MAZING. Played it a bit to much lately tho)
Wow/aion/lord of the rings/conan (MAY give conan & lotro another go tho)
dragon age origins
Titan quest
Sacred 2..-_-

i NEED a fantasy RPG fix.. can any one help?

Oblivion (not 3rd person)

Do you use a mouse without a wheel or something? One of the great things about Oblivion is the ability to play in 1st or 3rd person.

Unfortunately for half decent fantasy RPG's your going to have to go back further than 5 years.

I should have put "oblivion (but NOT in 3rd person) My bad lol
The only time i ever went into 3rd person was to check out the armor or to... look at my female chars with no clothes on with a nude mod..... *shame* Lol Oblivion in 3rd person was awful. The chars run like they had just passed a solid and the animation is just terrible. Much better in 1st :D

#1 is imposing a bit of an artificial limitation on what's out there as it means no Morrowind, NWN etc. I guess The Witcher could fit the bill, I bought it when it was on offer a while back but haven't played it yet.

yea its pretty good, really hardcore ruleset though and all the character sheet atributes etc isnt aimed at novices

+1 for Drakensang, awesome game, really surprised me how fun it was. The new Drakensang is out in Germany, we should see a English release this year sometime, look forward to it.

I'd disagree with the hardcore ruleset though as its really simple, you invest in attributes that you want to use, pretty simple. Want lock pick?, put points in to it, want more dialog options?, puts points into the persuade, diplomat etc etc. I had to restart the game after awhile though, most of the stuff I put points into were useless as my team members had it already and were better at it.

It's on steam for £14.99 http://store.steampowered.com/app/12640/ , anyone thats a fan of rpgs should pick it up.

have you tried:

the Witcher
Torchlight (demo available on steam)
Dungeon Siege 2
Gothic 3
Guild Wars
Jade Empire
Risen

not sure if all of them meet your requirements but they're probably worth a look anyway.

If he didnt like Dragon Age he will hate Drakensang (although its one of the best rpg's ive played in a long time)

Risen is *very* good. 3rd person, beautiful realized island. Decent combat. Good quest system. From the same ppl who did gothic i think...more importantly theres not many bugs that i could see.

It also has atmosphere mojo.. = missing ingredient which makes games great. ;)

Only bad thing is.... i lost me Risen dvd! So cant play it :(

I somewhat enjoyed the demo for Risen, but I found the combat horrendously bad. Perhaps it gets better later in the game?

hrmm dunno. I only just completed the town quests using sword n shield combo before lost disc. Planned on restarting as a mage. Didnt come across any combat destroying bugs. Ohh wait i did come across a bug which when you pin the enemy to a wall you can hit them without them hitting you... whoops! :D

Risen is a really underrated gem of a game. I thoroughly enjoyed it, so I would definitely recommend it. The combat is very unforgiving early on, but it gets better once you progress a little, and it's worth it because the game simply oozes atmosphere and immersion.
