q6600 and a 5850

i've got the processor to 3.2ghz now but I don't think I can risk raising it further since the vcore is now 1.39 and I have a poor VID of 1.325. Hopefully this will be enough

Q6600 overlock to 3.2GB won't bottleneck 5850 in games that uses Quad core well (i.e. BFBC2), but it will still bottleneck 5850 in games that are not optimised for Quad (i.e. Crysis). A 5850 need something like a [email protected] or faster in order to not bottleneck in Crysis.

With that said, I'm finger-crossing for that all new game titles will be optimised for Quad, so that that our Q6600 will be able to last a 2-3 more years XD

multithreading is a bit part of dx11 so quads and hexacores are the future. Crysis 2 has to support quad unless they want more complaints about how poorly the game runs.

I agree. Pretty sure Crysis 2 will be optimised Quad or more cores, unless they wanna shoot themselves in the foot

need too start looking for quad methinks then i'll get a 5850

I've got a great Q6600, does 4Ghz on air. I've really got to swap it over again.

I got my q6600 @3.4 along with a sapphire 5850 oc'd today @850 and 1200, runs crysis no problems and dirt 2 really well, i have vantage but my free period has expired so don't know what my score is (startssobbingascanttakeitanymore)

This makes me sad, mine has a 1.21 Vid but my board says 3ghz and no more!

i hear about all these people getting 3ghz + with their q6600s but i cant get mine past 2.7ghz without it being too unstable to oc :/

mine will do 3ghz on a seriously un-capable 975x/g chipset. If it can do this on a dated chipset undervolted then on a decent chipset it should be capable of 3.5-4ghz with some convincing.

I have my Q6600 at 3ghz, have pushed it further to 3.8ghz but felt 3ghz is enough for the moment. im using mine with 5850 at stock have yet to overclock it but running BFBC2 fine. Thats at 5840x1050 (eyefinity), everything on high settings HBAO off and v sync off and 1xAA but everything else on high. I will say this, I recently formatted my pc and was playing BFBC2 before overclocking my CPU (2.4ghz) and the loading speed doubled for multiplayer games when i went to just 3ghz.
