Hi

My girlfriends sister is making a dvd for her father's birthday and asked me if I knew a song. Only thing is she knows nothing about it apart from being able to sing it a little. To me it sounds familar, particularly the last few bars but I can't place it.

So, no prizes but if anyone could name this it would be pretty cool, and amazing too given the singing...

:)

I don't know what the song is either but thought the second half sounded familiar. Posting it here I hoped to get loads of people listening, and one of those might spot it but it's been a bit of a none starter. Thanks though anyone who subjected themselves to it.

Typical woman -
I want to sing a song but I don't know what it's called, don't know who it's by, don't know how it goes and don't know any words from it.

@dmpoole

In her defence she is Spanish so not remembering the words is understandable. Obviously if she knew who the song was by then it would be easy but she heard it on the radio. There is a tune in the recording which does sound recognisable to me but I can't place it.

If she's Spanish then she should speak better English than me :)
The tune is very recognisable to me also.

Could it be Chasing Cars?

I'll ask her. I don't see much similarity which probably means it probably is. Thanks for listening. :)

I've had 40 years experience of gigging and get all sorts of people humming tunes to me that sound nothing like the original :)

Here's an example -
At last nights gig a girl kept shouting out "Do some Southern Rock" so I started to go through several bands names like Lynyrd Skynyrd, Molly Hatchet, Jason & The Scorchers, Allman Brothers etc.
She kept shaking her head and at the break she hassled me and started to hum a Southern Rock song to me.
Eventually with the help of my bass player because she was so far off we realised she was trying to sing/hum Paradise City by Guns N Roses which she claimed to be Southern Rock

Oh those clueless requests. I swear they just shout out some random uninformed choice just so they can go home thinking they pulled the strings of the performer if it got played.

When it's a song you've already done it proves one's point.

Back in the early 80s at Smallthorne Pioneer Club -

Play some Elvis
I go into Girl Of My Best Friend
Play some Elvis
I go into Marie His Latest Flame
Play some Elvis
I go into Jailhouse Rock
Play some Elvis
I proceed to shout out 'What the **** do you want, we've just done 3 Elvis tracks in a row'
Blue Suede Shoes
**** off

Amazingly I wasn't banned.
Don't you just love those Elvis 'fans' who only know one song
