Was really good - not that I camped.

Awesome to see that Sumo Power GT finished 3rd - even better to hear that they have since been declared winners via disqualification of the top two :D

Would have been great for them to have finished on top and for then to have been top of the podium, but it's a fantastic win for a first time team.

The Nissan GT-R of Jamie Campbell-Walter and Warren Hughes, which originally placed third, was awarded the victory in the Championship Race at Silverstone after penalties were handed out to the first two cars over the line.

The British duo had finished behind the Aston Martins of Young Driver pair Darren Turner and Tomas Enge and Hexis Racing's Thomas Accary and Frederic Makowiecki in an eventful second round of the championship.

But in an astounding turn of events, the Turner-Enge No.7 Aston Martin DB9 was excluded from the results by the race stewards because the friction block of the flat bottom of the car was not in accordance with the minimum thickness.

The second-placed car of Accary-Makowiecki Hexis was given a 15-second time penalty for not serving a drive through within the required three laps during the race.

It means that Campbell-Walter and Hughes now find themselves the proud owners of the RAC Tourist Trophy.

Aye me too. Would love to know more about the 5.6 Litre V8's they're using, but can't find much aside from whats on Wikipedia.

The Skylines were weird sounding I agree, I was expecting them to be really crisp but they were very rumbling like an American V8. Glad they are getting on the pace slowly though.

I think it is odd to have two GT1 specifications and trying to balance them. There have been quite a lot of DQ's or weight penalties and general controversy in the first two meetings. In fact the GT1's in general seemed odd - if you want to race a car you have to race 4?!?! a bit of making up the numbers and increasing costs.

However the sprint race format seemed good, just a shame there were not 2x 1 hour GT1 races on each day. Over the endurance racing it seemed like the drivers could got flat out and racing rather than saving the cars! The GT1's were fast and processional but the GT3's more than made up for it!

As for the new Silverstone - it is still a lot under construction at the moment :(

I liked the Arena complex lots of action:

The Z4's went and sounded like go karts, when you nail the throttle and you just hear the 'burrrrrr' as it winds up and bounces up and down :D

Just watched this online, looks like I missed a good race :(

I reckon the GTR's are doing really well given that this is there first full season isn't it? (Yes I know its the first full season for the championship, but the other teams have run before in other championships)

The commentary on the race said the Sumo's were a proper Brawn-esqe outfit - They were only given the go ahead during Autosports in January
