Hi all,

My parents PC decided to die last weekend so I've decided to upgrade it but I have a very low budget so I'm buying all the components second hand.

I've already decided on the E6600 CPU and I've bought 2GB Geil DDR2/PC-6400 RAM. Now I just need to get the motherboard, which is where you guys can hopefully help me.

I only have up to ~ £40 to spend on a used socket 775 motherboard. It's for my parents so it doesn't need to be anything really special, but I'd like it to run cool and most importantly be reliable/good quality.
I've had two Asus boards die in my parents PC within 6 months of each other, so I'd like to try out a different board this time. I've heard good things about the Gigabyte boards.

What is the benefits of a P45 board over a P35?
What would be a decent and reliable Gigabyte board to match with the above components?
I've been looking at the Gigabyte DS3 boards but apparently some of them have a "boot recycle" problem but I have no idea what that is.

for under £40 go with a P35 chipset board.

P45 your looking at £50 upwards, the only benefit really is overclocking, which i doubt they will do.

Thanks for the replies.

I managed to get a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R for £32.50 delivered on the MM, it's meant to be a decent board and should be more than enough for my parents.
Hopefully it'll be quite good at overclocking too.

i had that mobo with a Q6600 and it was a great board. Moved onto a P5Q Deluxe due to more OC options
