My cousin recently picked up an E46 330i M sport convertible, and now im dreaming about getting a 3 series on a nightly basis lol.

Just wondered if any of you guys had experience of which engine is the best to go for in the range, and also your opinions on getting a convertible.

The best engine to go for is the 3.0 litre petrol engine. Getting a convertible is good if you want the roof to fold down.

You will need £10,000 for a properly nice one.

Motors needs an FAQ section that details why diesel may not save you money over petrol, what you need to know to buy an E46, the difference between torque and power and how DOC cover works.

This would remove the need for 99% of topics.

How else would Fox maintain his post count?

Rather than trying to aggregate the information from all the previous threads, you could just link to the good ones that didnt descent into trolling and pointless arguments

The ones that didn't descend into trolling and pointless arguments? Which ones would they be? :p

True, but we can have fun just posting a link to the FAQ and being all leet and stuff.

At least we won't have to do the usual back and forth.

Great timing; seems a bad time to start anoher 346 thread.

How much are a pair of rear discs (fitted) for a 325i sport and a spare wheel+tyre likely to cost?

Thanks. Where did you get the prices fron - research or is there a list somewhere?

On a related note, I have been window shopping (read this too: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18051128) and have come to the conclusion that coupes look better, are rarer, more sought after and therefore £500-£1k more expensive than the saloon equivalent. Does that sound about right? Therefore the saloon is better value?

You pay more for the coupe - obviously and you're getting less in terms of practicality. So are the looks worth the extra money? That's your call!

Had an 325 e46, great car and the 6 pot is a excellent engine, always wanted the 330d tho, had for three years and only had to change the rear tyres, these where expensive as they were 18" michelins....
