Hi Guys

I am looking to replcae my Netgear 834N and have seen the the below router on the Netgear web site - does anyone know if this will be available for ADSL as it seems to be only cable at the moment

That does not make sense it cant work with both the model listed is to work with cable only, is listed under cable routers on the overclockers web site

The same router listed under cable modem routers

My broadband is with BT ADSL not Cable

A router is a router regardless of if it's used for cable or ADSL. It's listed under the cable section so as to tell you that it doesn't have an inbuilt ADSL modem. Cable users usually have a separate external cable modem.

The point Thebug is making is that you can use this router with adsl IF you use a separate ADSL modem.

I am an ADSL user using this router with the AM300 Linksys ADSL modem quite happily.

The reason for going this route is that I get a much better choice of router as supported by the open firmware projects such as DD-WRT/Tomato etc.
DD-WRT support for this device is picking up and going through beta testing. Hopefully soon a fully fledged firmware will be out and working correctly.

If you still have the DG834N and it's working, you can use that router in modem mode only and use the above router in conjunction with it.

They really need too release these with inbuilt adsl modems.... been seeing these lovely new high end routers lately seem one could do 1080p streaming to 2 systems at same time without lagg, alas I dont like too many cables/power adaptors and wires hanging loose.

Would rather much wait for a proper all in one highend ADSL router with dual gigabyte bandwith all singing and dancing all in one box and can stream 1080p and to 20 computers in a wink and hopefully one day plug it into a decent gigabyte power adaptor for the ultimate 1080p experience.... guess ill stop there

I'm the opposite. Now that I've used devices with DD-WRT/Tomato etc, I won't consider anything else. Manufacturers firmware in the past has just been a headache for me. Constant problems, reboots to fix problems etc and very slow to resolve issues and update firmware.
