You could have a look at the PHILIPS HTR5224 Digital A/V Receiver + 7.1 Speakers for £220
Just check that you can use both machines with it.

Astro headset and mixamp

Logitech Z5500
Kind of budget? £30? £300?
If you want it for both PS3 and 360, then you'll want at least 2x optical inputs.
Dave
Logitech Z5500, I've had mine for about 5 years now and they're one of the best purchases I ever made, don't think they can be beaten for that price really.
hook up to my ps3 and 360
I use it because there isn't an alternative, but I couldn't recommend a mixamp.
- You really have to watch the levels going into it to avoid distortion sometimes this means your only option is turning the balance way over into voice.
- I haven't found a single 240v>5v PSU in my possession that doesn't make the voice amp hum/buzz.
- The battery compartment is awful with no separation ridges and a retaining screw instead of a clip which is a shame since it eats rechargeables.
- What I assume to be a low pass filter (the wart in the 360 controller connection lead) is way to aggressive. Although I haven't outright confirmed it yet by trying a straight 2.5mm>2.5mm stereo lead.
- Lacks the ease of basic functions of the XBL headset, there is no mute or single action voice level adjustment.
I currently run it off a 12v 7ah power pack with a 12v cigarette lighter>USB converter in it not the most attractive of solutions.
In a simular boat my self and this recently came up, ive ordered it myself and its hdmi 1.4 and it has 4 hdmi inputs on the unit its self, looking at the reviews and price he got a lot of "heat"on a website it can be had for £239.99:
