Hi,
I'm helping out a family member by creating a little power point presentation for a school assembly for around 500 people at a middle school. Not because they can't make it themselves but because I'm bored, I was feeling helpful, and because I'll probably have to create my own next year.
It's about Earth and how stunning and diverse it can be, and I'm searching for a few photos to link in with certain topics. I've got a few already from the Boston Big Picture and some NASA ones, but was interested to see what sort of suggestions I'd get from here.
Feel free to contribute any pictures you feel would capture the topic best.
Here are the topics I have yet to find decent illustrations for in this short but hopefully interesting assembly.
1. Population - for this I've been searching for a photo of a large crowd of people, something like the Grant Park gatherings for the American elections or similar.
2. Extremes - mainly hottest (El Azizia, Libya) and coldest regions (Vostok, Antarctica).
3. Highest Peaks and (Everest) and Deepest Oceans (Mariana trench)
4. Species adaptation -i.e. something illustrating an extraordinary ability to adapt to an environment, chameleons, polar bears etc.
5. Geology and Features - such as Angel falls waterfall and things like Volcanic eruptions etc.
I've got facts and text to link in with it all that the class will be reading out but even any interesting facts would be a help.
I'm searching myself through a few places but I'm being a bit of a perfectionist about it all and want some stunning photos.
Anything would be appreciated! Meanwhile, I'm carrying on the search...
(I've already done a section on Earth and it's position in the Milky Way, how many stars there are estimated to be in the Milky Way, and how many Galaxies we estimate there to be from current observations!)
