How fast does your car depreciate?

I bought a 2000 Astra Diesel 6 months ago for £50 and sold is a few weeks ago for £750. What do I win?

I bought my ST in January for £14k and privately, they still seem to fetch around £14k.

That said, If you go by the Glass's trade-in value, I've lost around £6 a day.

RX8

Lost £3000 a year form new until the day I bought it in 2008. So far has lost around £4500 since buying it which works out to £4.20 per day, seems mad for a 5 year old car to go on depreciating so quickly.

2006 Focus St 3, bought in October 08 for 10.5k with 27000 miles.
Sold April 2010 for 9.4k with 39000 miles.

Total depreciation 1.1k over 12000 miles / 19 months.

i bought my xsara in march last year for £300 and ive seen same type of xsara go on ebay for £600+ so i may make a profit wen i sell in september

Not sure what the current figure will be but for the lolz..

09 (4 days of 59) Mondeo Titanium (2500 Miles) with the sports pack, 18" Alloys, half leather, front and read parking sensors, Xenons and auto cruise control extras has a list price of £29K

Bought 4 Months old for £14,895.

So that woul be 14K or around £116 a day for the first 4 Months!

On my Passat which I had for 2.5 years £3k (£3.28 p/d) - mind I did 40k miles in those 3 years
Polo 2 years £1k (0.73 p/d)

not to bad imo

Car new: smidge over £30k
I Paid: £10,700
Now Worth: £8k ish

So it's cost me about £3.70 a day. That said, it's actually gone up in value over the last year. It dropped to about £7k last year and has gone back up. Silly Recession.

So the first owner of my car bought it new at about £45,000 and presumably in a private sale could have sold it for what I bought it for (£21,000) 18 months later.

I bought at £21K and 18 months later I think I could probably get £18K in a private sale.

So depreciation cost the first owner about £43/day and it has cost me about £5.45/day. Quite a difference! Some of that is down to the economic climate and car buying market at the time.

57 plate megane DCi 1.5

£15,230 brand new (company lease)

Maybe worth about £6k now, £9,230 in 3 years which I think is pretty terrible but it is a french ****box :D

£3.06 per day. I predict that will be around £2.25 per day by the time I get rid of it.

Puts depreciation into a new perspective looking at it like that. My Kit Kat habit costs me around 10% of a new car :p

Due to my OCD driven ways when buying cars I don't want them to cost me more in depreciation than the equivalent of one months wages per year, no idea why I picked that figure but it seems to work for me :o Seems that I'm already beating that figure... maybe I can justify a new car quicker than I thought :p Just a shame I can't get anything better with my budget :p
