Went to test drive This at the weekend

At the mo I have an 04 reg Type R and as well as wanting a change and something a little more modern the amount of petrol I'm getting through these days has pushed me to start looking around

I'm really after a Diesel and for a bit of fun an automatic but not too keen on Golf's as everyone I work with seems to have one hence why I went and looked at the Leon

So I'm after opinions really for someone currently driving a Type R would a Leon be a good choice baring in mind the main reason for the change is the amount I'm spending on fuel

Also is there any difference between a TDI Sport and TDI Stylance as I'm seeing both advertised but they like the same

Budget is 9k by the way :)

Did you actually just say you fancied a diesel automatic for a 'bit of fun'?

I think that Leon looks awful, I can think of many, many better cars for almost £10,000 than a 4 year old Seat Leon diesel!

You would be insane to spend 9 grand on an auto diesel Leon.

Have you actually looked at the fuel numbers and got a hard number to look at? Depending on your mileage your savings might be quite paltry compared to what you think you might save.

No good buying an auto diesel then driving it everywhere with your foot planted to the floor because that is the only way you are going to get any kind of "fun" out of it.

i really like the leons, although i prefer the look of the old shape.

my next car will be a leon although aslong as i can afford it i'll be going for the cupra r

Yea I'm not convinced changing car to save on fuel in this case makes any sense.

I meant in retrospect to the performance loss I'd be getting at least I'd have a DSG to play about with :p

This.

Don't buy a new car to save money on fuel, buy it because you like it. Otherwise it makes no sense... Unless you buy a more economic car of similar value to your Civic.

Dont get me wrong I do like it, felt nice to drive (never had an automatic before) loved a few of the quirky design features as well.

Not much love here for them though :(

Going from type r to anything else is a step down. Going for seat leon is 3 steps down. There are so many other cars to choose from.

9k on an Auto Derv Leon. :(
You say you want to be different then be different & buy something individual & decent. Not an Auto Derv Leon though for ***** sake. :(

Going to diesel though you have to expect the performance loss

What would you suggest then?

HAHA

I'm really surprised about the despise for them on here

The power band on a derv is Tiny an Auto would suck like a ten bob whore.
Also you would be surprised how quick you can get a 6 speed manual derv to go once re mapped.
