Opinions on this Seat Leon

What are your requirements?

Well I dont do many miles but having just got my first house doing £150 a month on petrol is taking the **** a bit. So was thinking diesel with that in mind but at the same time wanted something half decent to look at - obviously that opinion isn't shared by many on here re the leon :(

Why does everyone think Diesel = HUGE savings.

By the time you have bought a new car, got all the paperwork sorted, the insurance etc you could probably save just as much by driving your Type R more sensibly and still having it for when you do feel frivolous with the loud pedal.

If you do not do many miles just being able to fill up with the black nozzle is not going to save you the earth.

How many miles do you do in a year?

Sounds like you can't afford to run the car? Maybe down size to something less thirsty/cheaper and put the left over cash in the bank.

I can afford to run it but it's still a bit of a drag shelling out that much a month

I've been thinking for a while of swapping the car for something different anyway so just figured if a diesel saves me just 1 trip to the petrol station a month then it's a little bit saved

I'd happily pay the extra £50/month extra on fuel to drive a Type R over a bland Leon. It's quite a small cost in motoring terms.

Also is there any difference between a TDI Sport and TDI Stylance as I'm seeing both advertised but they like the same

A Stylance with the sports pack option = same spec as a Sport.

A Stylance without the sports pack lacks the sporty seats and suspension.

how many miles a year do you do ?

its difficult for us to calculate your savings without knowing how economical your current car is, ie how many miles you get from that £150

Probably around 10k (not much more or less)

I can save you that money and make your driving more enjoyable, without having a Diesel Auto AND me get really drunk at the same time.

Spend £5750 on a Leon Cupra R and £250 on a private plate (so nobody knows it's 'older'). Put £3k into an ISA. Transfer out £50/month. Including interest, this should see you well over 4 years and still allow you sufficient funds to buy me a significant amount of beer for suggesting a way to have a fun car and not worry about the monthly cost.

Seriously, I do not understand how people can pay £9k to save £50 a month...

Ugly car to ugly diesel car. I can see the sense there, but there's no logic to the fuel side of it.
