Peregrine Falcon in the rain (wild) (+ repost)

EDIT: Repost a few posts down...

Hello all :D

I've not been doing much photography recently, in fact I haven't even picked my camera up since I got back from Holland back in Feb!

This is a shot taken there, on the island of Texel, of a Peregrine Falcon in the rain. We were completely lucky to happen upon this difficult to shoot bird of prey, and have it sit still for two drive pasts whilst we got in position!

You can see more shots and read the full experience behind the shot here if you're interested :)

In the meantime...

Nice stuff. I like how you can just about see the rain. However I can't help but think 'just a touch more contrast/blacks'! Also as the fence isn't facing you it makes the frame a little wonky, does the bird fall over if it's made horizontal?

Thanks buddy. I actually did try to 'straighten' the fence to correct the perspective but because it gets more and and more out of focus as it goes away, it looked 'odd' when it was straight to the frame - when it was straight your brain thinks it should be in focus I think.

Nice shot, a bit better than the one I got last summer, but then you have around 3x the magnification! :p

Seriously though excellent shot and made by the bird looking at you. :)

Nice shot Richard. Very lucky to get it sitting there for you. As others have mentioned I would agree that it seems to need rotating clockwise a few degrees. Also I would maybe try increasing the highlights a little and try and make the raindrops pop a bit more. Other than that it is a very nice shot.

On a related not I managed to get shots of a Tawny Owl chick that had fallen out of the nest yesterday. Very cute indeed, but sad to think that is was very unlikely to survive unless the mother somehow managed to life it back into the nest.

Mr Penguin! Haven't heard from you in ages, and always like looking at your work. What were you doing on Texel, shooting wildlife specifically? Being hyper critical I think I agree with robertgilbert86, it could do with a touch more contrast as its a lovely blurred background, but wouldn't want to see it overdone if you see what I mean. Couldn't you make him face you for a mugshot? :p

Had a play with the image...tried to bring out the rain a little and bring in a touch more contrast.
