so...wtf. just got my 2nd card installed and GPU-Z is reporting some strange values...4GB 512bit gDDR4 vram, 32 ROPs, 384 shaders....if only it were correct!! :D

No option to enable SLI in the control panel?

so a reboot seems to have fixed it. Just tried BC2 and my FPS have nearly doubled.....and I'm getting around 300-350fps average in CoD4!!

got to say so far I'm impressed....never had this sort of performance before.

Welcome to the fold Gurusan.

Nice score - i get just under 18k with my 720 tri core in Vantage.

I've had my two for aaaages now - they only cost me £300 delivered when i first bought them which has been excellent value! :)

thanks guys.

decent vantage score too...can probably crack 20k if I push the CPU more. It's a shame my 65nm gigabyte card is such a poor clocker (won't do over 1407 shader or 1080mem), as I'm sure the 55nm card clocks much higher....but tbh I'm not that bothered as the performance I'm getting is pretty nice.

ok I am having some problems with BC2. It's just exiting to desktop after around 1-5 minutes of play.

fixed it.

from the bc2 thread:

However, I've just done some reading and apparently there can be a potential BC2 problem with realtek sound drivers. So I've disabled it in the device manager and also installed 197.57 beta drivers and just played a round without a crash.

Dunno which thing fixed it but looks like the problem is gone :) BC2 really looks so much better with 4xAA

Just noticed these cards actually are running cooler now! It must be because there is more airflow out of the case.

Played bc2 as well for a few hours tonight and got to say I am well and truly pleased with the performance I have for what I've paid. Anyone buying a 480 or 470 is daft IMO. I am getting 60-70fps minimums, all details @ high, 2048x1152 with 4xAA 16xAF

Each card will run a little cooler probably even with the 2 cards in a smallish space as SLI scaling is never working them as hard as a single card gets worked.

you may be right, but GPU usage is 95-98% on both cards in BC2 which is less than the 99-100% I was seeing with single card, but not exactly hugely significant.

However my CPU temps have dropped by 2 degrees with the same 21C ambient and the addition of the 2nd 260 is the only thing that has changed..

This is in an Antec P182 case which apart from being a nicely designed case, is a failcase as far as airflow is concerned.
