Just got HTC Desire, how do i set it up?

i got this yesterday since every one has been talking about it, i'm currenly n900 user and desire feels so limted. but do like some of the features. do google set dates for firmware updates?

cheers lads

I'm sure there's a reason for it but not being able to install apps to the removable media seems incredibly short sighted of them.

My Desire should turn up today, I'm hoping that I don't have any problems with space.

Its not as limited as one particular handset out there;)...i think the Desire is bloody brilliant, it does everything i want it to...currently just having a small issue with bluetooth transfer but its not a big deal for me, if i can fix it then cool if not no skin off my nose....maybe you should have stuck to your N900...ive heard plenty of bad things about that device.

Google does set dates but its up to the operators to get the updates out on time...again the next update is due in June i think...was supposed to be this month, still might get it but from what i have read its looking more likely in June.

i have both phones, its not really buggy as some people make out, few apps have thier issues, most moan about exchange as it has no provisioning and the only other real bug is no USSD codes (like *#100#) support but this fixed in next update this month.

playing with desire and if i dont like it i will sell that or sell n900 if i find desire better.

what media files does desire support and can you get codec?

yeh sorted it by uninstall HTC drivers and letting windows update. Got one last problem, some sites and apps dont seem to work with my wifi, there is no problem with router, n900,ps3, 2 netbook, 1 laptop and main PC (wired) all work fine except desire

any one have this issue?

I do sometimes, its only whn I have 3G and wifi turned on at the same time. Try having just the one on and try it again.

I have no issues with all the websites i usually browse on my Desire and i browse quite a few and mainly the popular and non popular ones...maybe your settings arent correct on your wifi network...some apps wont work with WIFI, thats nothing new as even with my BB some apps will not work with wifi but i dont see that being a problem or a bug...its just the way the app is designed.

You can't move apps to the memory card unless you're running a baked custom ROM with Apps2SD. Unless you've installed 82382323990923 apps, I can't see how you're running out of internal memory.

I'm convinced there's something wrong with the high res Sense, it seems to kill app storage, Custom ROM's for the Desire should fix this I guess, freeing up more space without needing Apps2SD

i did a google and found any results with wifi issues, its a firmware issue with some routers, its got a bug tracker on google.

errmmm where is the media player for watching video files? i cannot seem to see it lol

guys do none of you have wifi issues? should i take the phone back for replacement? i emailed HTC last night, no reply yet.

regards

What wifi issues do you have?

I have no issues on my WNDR3700 or any other wifi I connect to.

hey mate, ok when i connect to wifi bbc website works fine, but most others dont or they load 1st page and rest of the links do not load or start to load and thats it.

even apps like facebook do not always refresh when on wifi, google voice search says connection error most of teh time when on wifi.

router is d-link 615 N which has nokia n900, ps3, netbooks and mainpc (wired) connected without any issues.

changed channels 1,3,6,7,8,,9,11, changed security WPA2-tkip and AES

also set static IP on phone with no joy

cheers for the hep mate, been playing about withs ecurity settings and i might have got some where but will also test at mates tonight.

cheers
