My New Car - BMW Z4 3.0i

The remote roof is something Tommo had done and sounds awesome. But now I have the zed I can't see its practicality. I'm not going to go for that mod.

I think the stubby aerial and an aux cable for the stereo are the only things on my wish list at the mo.

That and some decent cleaning products. Especially something to keep corrosion at bay on the wheels.

I've just been onto the z4 forums and now I have over £100 of cleaning products sat in my Amazon basket..

Nothing special. Few wash mitts, drying towels with a largely unexciting wash procedure compared with some of the wash-o-holics. It's off for detailing soon though with full paint correction....which is when I will start cleaning it properly..

You forget, I don't have a black car any more....half the fun is seeing your own reflection with that colour I swear!

Ha! I could easily be a wash-o-holic.. especially as "attention to detail" is my middle name..

My current basket:

Autoglym Wheel Care Kit Bag - Cleaner, Sealant (108s need love), Brush
Autoglym Hi Tech Microfibre Drying Towel
Meguiars Lambs Wool Wash Mitt
AutoGlym High Definition Wax - Carnuba Wax
Autoglym Surface Detailing Clay Kit - Detailer, Clay Bar, Microfibres
Autoglym Large Bottle Quality Bodywork Shampoo 2.5 Litre
Large Autoglym - Number 1 Super Resin Car Polish (1000ml)
Autoglym Cabriolet Fabric Hood Cleaning Kit

These all seem to be fairly high rated products and should cover me for some time to come. It will probably get washed every weekend or two, and waxed every 6 months. I'm actually excited about the clay bar.. is that a bad thing?

I have looked into detailing quite a bit. Got fascinated by a TV programme with wax that was worth about £6K! It would make quite a nice second income I think.. I don't see anyone else in the area offering it either. It's just never been worth it on the old motor.. going to see how things go with this kit and then expand.

The bloke I am looking to trust my car with has a unit over by my office and does the full works for £250. Another locally does it for £200, but I don't trust him to give it a thorough detail.

I used Lee from Extreme detailing in the past with the 350z, over in Hatfield...but well worth the drive over. He did it a bit cheaper, but fuel = much more :D

EDIT: Appologies, just realised how badly we are derailing this thread. Sorry dude

If you have the BBW 108 split rims and you want a proper refurb where they split the rims and then do all the jazz to clean them up and then powder coat you are looking in the region of £100 per wheel.

It will also cost extra if you want the rim polished, maybe another £15 per wheel. The problem here is that it will corrode again in a few years.

I'm hoping to do mine at some point as they are totally wrecked. I'd be looking for something like this :

To give you an idea on how bad they eventually get see here :

Nope you can't.

I suppose its worth asking them or get a tidy parrot one installed.

First things first.... Get some metal polish on those pipes. Or alternatively buy some facelift exhaust tips from a 3.0si. They were a lot chunkier. MrMason has them on his black Z4 Im sure he'll get you a pic posted.

Someone on the Z4 forum got in touch with a guy called Joe @ www.soperbmw.co.uk - He is parts manager and if you ever need quotes for parts they work out ridiculously cheap compared to my local dealers. Delivered next day too. Just address an email to the parts department, addressing it to Joe and tell him that you contacted him because of feedback from the Z4-forum. You get a reply email instantly with prices. Absolutely fantastic service.

EDIT - Multifunction steering wheel is a nice touch too. I picked mine up for £80 on the z4forum second hand. Took 5 mins to fit.

Does yours have cruise control?

Do you have his direct email? I can't seem to find a contact other than the generic one?
