Hi guys,

I was wondering what you all use as a gaming surface for your mice? I have a very old and battered looking gaming surface and am looking to replace it, but I've used this one for years and the reviews don't seem to give the "feel" of the surface, instead focusing on speed and the like.

What are your opinions?

I'm currently using my desk, laminated chipboard probably. More friction than many gaming surfaces but works fine for me.

I have used the above mentioned Razer eXactMat previously. Although the surface isn't that smooth it does give a very low friction/ resistance movement.

Hmmm, I'm not sure I like the idea of that being under everything. As nice as it sounds, I think I'd prefer something as mentioned. A semi-normal gaming mouse mat.

I've got the eXactaMat also although it has to be said I don't do much gaming at the moment. It's been pretty good overall - had it for a few years now. One side is a smooth surface the other is textured. The rubber feet which seem to be held on with glue have come off a number of times but I've always just pushed them back on. It is happening with more frequency as it gets older though. Think it would work fine without them anyway. Anyone else had this?

+1 for exactmat.
ive got one and use it for all things gaming and photo editing etc

also got the boogie xl which mainly covers desk to protect but still use it as mat when im using left hand ! ( yes im a lefty but exactmat is on right side of desk!)

Mines only about 3 months old so not yet, will watch out for them going missing though. Not the biggest problem in the world though, as long as you dont loose them a bit of superglue would sort it right out :D

I have this http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GS-011-RA&groupid=702&catid=32&subcat=

It is the best mouse mat I have ever owned. It is about 1mm thin and glues itself to the desk but you can peel it off easily and it will stick down again perfectly. It isn't sticky to touch. Plus you can wipe it clean if you spill any drinks on it (or anything worse! :p).

Only problem is that it isn't at all portable so if you go to LANs then this isn't for you.

It feels like there is no mat there at all which I am liking very much.

I also have some of these MouseGlidez on my Deathadder http://www.everglide.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=17&Itemid=30 (ocuk used to sell them but don't anymore it seems?) I can tap my mouse on the side very gently and it zooms across the mat :D

Zero point one friction for the win :D

That mat is more my style mate. Looks good. Is it normal(ish) size mousemat? Or one of those HUGE things :)

Normal sized if not a wee bit bigger. But I have mine in a "portrait" position. I seem to use the vertical space more than the horizontal :p

I have had the steel series sx for about 6 months and when I run my fingers over the surface I can feel uneven friction. I tried cleaning it but I think its just been ground down like my G5's mouse feet on one edge ( that was already like it though).

At first it made my G5 feel really smooth but I've just ordered 2 different types of cloth mats now:

£11.91 x 1 - Roccat Sense Gaming Mouse Pad - Glacier Blue
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GS-000-RC&groupid=702&catid=32&subcat=

£8.50 x 1 - Razer Goliathus Omega Speed Gaming Mouse Pad
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GS-007-RA&groupid=702&catid=32&subcat=

I also gave in and ordered a logitech g500 gaming mouse even though my G5 simply needs new feet, was looking at the Razer Abyssus 3500dpi, but having read a review I found that u need to flip the mouse over to change DPI settings.

I like to change DPI settings when I jump in a tank in battlefield games and then back when I jump out (usually in a hurry), no good flipping the mouse over when ur being shot at! I think the more expensive versions have the same solution as I can't see buttons on the top for it.
