Taken from the manifesto of the Monster Raving Loony Party:

Needles
"Due to the increasing number of children afraid of needles, I propose the destruction of the tedious, scary and often painful process of school vaccinations.
Instead, I propose that highly trained nurses should be given free reign on the playground with specially modified tranquillizer rifles which apply vaccinations as well as a tranquillizer. This would have two main benefits: It would be less scary for the children as they will not know what hit them, also it will be more fun for the nurses."

UK budget deficit 'to surpass Greece's as worst in EU'

European commission's spring forecasts put UK budget deficit this year at 12% of GDP – the highest in the European Union and worse than Treasury estimates

Whoever wins the election must make sorting out the public finances the top priority, the European commission warned on the eve of the poll, as it predicted the British budget deficit would swell this year to become the biggest in the European Union, overtaking even Greece.

Ditch Labour's government-by-fear. Vote with your hopes.

Over the last few weeks we have seen the true Labour come out - campaigning by fear, whether founded, misrepresented or (sadly, more often than not) just downright false.

Fear of going even further off the economic rails. Fear of losing SureStart. Fear of paying more tax. Fear of paying less tax. Fear of the poor losing benefits. Fear of rich the losing benefits. Fear of losing the NHS. If you're a cancer patient, fear of death. Fear of terrorism. Fear of the Tories. Fear of the Liberal Democrats.

Labour have overseen few things that have been as effectively executed as their instillation of fear in the electorate. George Monbiot in the Guardian puts it succinctly: New Labour is a parasite. A vote for them is born of fear, not hope.

I think we shouldn't be voting with our fears, but with our hopes.

We shouldn't be voting to stop something from happening, but to make something happen.

Good luck on May 6th - hopefully your own hopes will be achieved.

I'd like to know something from those who put down Conservative.

How many of those planning to vote Conservative tomorrow are voting because they like the Conservatives plans, and how many because they're "the best of a bad lot"?

And second question, what exactly about the Conservative proposals do you like?

undecided between Tories and Lib dems. Not Labour ofc never again.

My overriding priority is Labour and Brown out. Dont want to end up with a Lab-Lib dem pact with Brown and most of his cronies still holding the reins of power sooo may have to go down the once reviled route of voting tory

Sort the colours out plx.

I've had to make a regrettable switch to Labour as the Tories will certainly win otherwise. My borough (Hammersmith) has had a terrible few years under a Tory council, has a very strong Labour following but no Lib Dem interest at all :(

For all the Conservative nuts, have a read of http://www.independent.co.uk/news/u...avid-cameronrsquos-model-borough-1962318.html
A preview of what will come if the Conservatives win a majority.

That article is sickoning and i'll be honest, that is what scares me the most about the tories, if it wasn't for the huge fiscal problems I would not vote for them. Why should those people suffer proportionatly more? I know what it's like, when I was young my parents had to fight for the help I needed, which is totally wrong.

?

Best of a bad bunch, no party has the policies I would like to see. But they at least don't have ones that I believe hinder the UK.

I am voting for them as a lesser of three evils.

What I exceptionally like:
1) Schools policy
2) Health policy
3) Cutting child tax credits for those earning > £50k
4) Beginning to cut the deficit now rather than later

What I do not like:
1) Marriage tax break
2) Ringfencing NHS spending

They say they will make an attempt to responsibly manage the economy.

That is something Gordon has promised every year for 13 years and failed each and every year to do.

The fact that labour say some poor people might get a kicking financially is irrelevant to me, they wont, they didnt under the last tory government, they wont this time.

Sorry.

He is right to say that the borough is socially mixed but he managed to get just about everything else wrong. To deal with just some of his errors:

1. Council Tax hits the poor harder the rich. So contrary to Hari's claims reducing it helps the poorest the most. His claim that they "disproportionately benefit the wealthy" shows the most staggering ignorance.

2. If Hari feels that Hammersmith and Fulham Home Care charges are wickedly "Thatcherite" what does he feel about the Labour councils which routinely have higher charges?

3. Hari's claim that holding polo in Hurlingham Park has been at the expense of facilities there is the opposite of the truth. The deal with the World Polo Association is bringing in £170,000 in revenue to the Council over three years plus projects to improve the park and the opportunity for children from local primary schools to have free tickets to the tournament and attend sessions to learn polo themselves. The Labour councillors have just responded with a lot of ignorant class prejudice but the open minded can see the benefits.

4. The reduction in the number of homeless hostels reflects an achievement in reducing the numbers in temporary accommodation. This is in line with the "good practice" objective the Government has set for Councils to stop using hostels. Does Hari think families should languish in hostels?

Also see: http://conservativehome.blogs.com/l...r-hostel-accomodation-should-be-welcomed.html

And, if Tory councils were all that bad, wouldn't we hear more about them?

Does any one vote labour because they think they have done a good job or do they just hate the other parties that much ?

I just cant understand why you would vote for them.

Cameron wants to ban the EDL. For me that's a clear signal that the Conservatives will continue with Labour's brutal, authoritarian mantra of multi-culturalism is best and anyone who doesn't agree is a bigot - even if that means curbs on free speech.

At what cost though, rolling blackouts due to no power plants and big corporations leaving in hirds larger than they are currently.

I agree we need a shake up in Voting and politics, but not at any cost.

Thanks.

So you like their health policy even though it involves cutting NHS spending? And I'm not an economist so can't comment on when to start cuts, so whether to cut now or next year I don't know. So, if early cuts are a good thing as you say, where would you consider good places to start?

See, my biggest problem with the Conservatives is not they want to get cutting early, but that they will start by first giving the wealthy a tax break (!!!), then cutting correspondingly more from the very bottom, like homeless shelters, services for the disabled and elderly, the sure start program etc.
