Fastest Audi TT in the UK?

I'm not being critical here, more inquisitive

but why cant he just get in the fire engine with the rest of the fireman ?

never understood the need for those little cars that you see all stickered up with fire service livery and blues and twos etc..

Rapid response, it's much much smaller and easier to manoeuvre than the massive trucks. It's the same story with the ambulances and the RRV's.

If there's heavy traffic then the chances are the RRV's are going to make it there much sooner.

Common sense really

whats he going to do when he gets there quicker than the fire engines on his own.

Whip out a gardena garden hoze ? :D

What's a paramedic in the RRV going to do if he beats the paramedics in the ambulance to a scene?

Just because they don't have all the gear with them, doesn't mean that they potentially aren't the difference between life and death.

I presume it is the ICO in the car, and it's useful for them to be there first so that they can take charge immediately once everyone else starts to appear.

I work for a Fire service and if some of our bosses had TT's they would be a damn sight cheaper than the cars they use now.

I guess wee on it and planning. There's structures where you don't want to just start throwing water on, where a planned approach would be better.

I beleive Fire Cheifs etc use their own cars - hence the TT.

It varies countrywide. Our flexi Station Commanders get lease cars up to a certain "per month" value. If they want anything more "flashy" above the monthly allowance they have to top up the payment themselves.

No one at that level in my brigade has any particularly interesting cars. Lots of BMW 3 and 5 series and a good few Audis, Saabs and VW's. Our own Stn Cmdr has a 2 door 120d M-Sport. :)
