*earlier rambling*

I have another theory aswell.. Now the sun is bigger than the earth now over the course of billions of years the earth is very very slowly moving closer and closer to the sun by the gravitational pull.. when the earth has been gobbled up by the sun, pluto or one of the other planets will be the right temperature for life to form and the whole process starts agenm until there is no planets left in the solar system and the sun dies out, becomes a black hole..

the amount of energy is being reduced
No it's not. Energy is a bit like water in that it never goes away. You cant make energy and you cant kill energy, all you can do is change energy from one type to another. I think what you're referring to is that a certain type of energy (stored, in oil) is reducing but i dont understand what that has to do with evolution, cells and the aims of animals etc?

I didnt know that? (got a source? - i'd be interested to read about it)

I have never heard of the Earth moving towards the Sun.

Aren't most things gravitational in our Solar System a titantic pull between Jupiter and the Sun ?

I thought Earth's demise was when the Sun runs out of fuel and expands.

AFAIK everything in our system orbits the sun and is held in place by the suns mavity. The mavity of other planets only has an effect when things pass close by they sometimes 'wobble' on their orbit.

I would think that if the earth was getting closer to the sun then we would have crashed into it by now as mavity gets exponentially larger the closer you get to an object, so things accelerate towards gravitational pulls.

when you use fossil fuels for man made things for example plastics then once its used its gone ..

and there isnt a source directly but think of it this way..the sun will eventually become a black hole and this will consume the earth..

I have another theory!! The universe is made up of elements and energy right.. Now black holes are sucking up all this energy and light and everything else.. Now one day all the black holes in the universe will have sucked up all the energy and light in the universe right.. What happens when a single cell dies.. it multiplies am i right? the universe is a life bound by laws of physics and made up of elements..

I have one -

What if, like on the Simpsons, our solar system is akin to but one atom in a great organism. Where does this organism inhabit? What does that make us? Who left the oven on?

You see, I've even provided evidence.

what do you mean no.. tell me sir what happens when a cell dies?

Well lets look at your last posting above ....

....

No, as someone else has noted further up the thread the Earth will be destroyed when the Sun expands, i.e. becomes a red giant. After which it will likely collapse and form a dwarf star ,,, it does not have enough mass to collapse further and form a black hole.

but what is happening to the energy and matter being sucked into the black hole ...? You are assuming that it is destroyed but we just don't know that .... from our perspective it is equally possible that it's being emitted by white holes in another universe (or where ever)

But how is that related to your comment about cells ... if a cell dies then it dies, it doesn't multiply. The organism may replace the cell using resources and processes it has but that process isn't performed by the dead cell ...

The distance, angle and tilt of orbit with the Sun changes over ~35,000 years IIRC. Google Milankovich cycles. :)

My bad, the eccentricity (shape, and therefore distance from Sun) takes ~400,000 years to cycle :)

maybe the sun is "god" lol..

You're in the company of a fair few ancient religions if you believe in the Sun as god. It's not a particularly common belief these days but have at it and see if you can't increase its popularity again.

I have never heard of the Earth moving towards the Sun.

As I understand it the Earth's orbit is slightly elliptical so at points we'll be closer and at others slightly further away but as far as I am aware we're not going to get closer indefinitely - there's a fairly defined path that we take unless there's a cataclysmic shift in the Earth's orbit.

I thought Earth's demise was when the Sun runs out of fuel and expands.

That's how I understand it too, it'll run out of fuel (hydrogen) then become a red giant before collapsing back through phases to become a white dwarf where it will cool further and become a black dwarf.

Ok, I was thinking that basically the earth could be a living thing.......
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaia_hypothesis

The Gaia hypothesis, Gaia theory or Gaia principle is a controversial ecological hypothesis or theory proposing that the biosphere and the physical components of the Earth (atmosphere, cryosphere, hydrosphere and lithosphere) are closely integrated to form a complex interacting system that maintains the climatic and biogeochemical conditions on Earth in a preferred homeostasis. Originally proposed by James Lovelock as the earth feedback hypothesis,[1] it was named the Gaia Hypothesis after the Greek primordial goddess of the Earth, at the suggestion of William Golding, Nobel prizewinner in literature and friend and neighbour of Lovelock.[2] The hypothesis is frequently described as viewing the Earth as a single organism.
