I love these programs too. Although I hate the guy from 5th gear. Always sitting on bonnets and putting his grubby mitts all over freshly painted body work. He knows how to barter though!

One of my fav shows as well. Has anyone else noticed how Mike is getting fatter each series and Ed's hair is getting wilder and wilder lol :D

Excellent! I got into Wheeler Dealers a few months back and I am sure I have watched every single past episode due to them being repeated so much in Turbo.

Mike used to grate me but now I have grown to like him. Having a mate like Ed China would be very useful too! Must be a very satisfying job.

What always gets me with WD is the small markups they usually make on their cars, some people walk away with some bargains!

the prog is stupid

they make tiny mark ups, without taking into account all the "wrench time" they have to put in.

if you factored that in it would be one MASSIVE loss. most people work 9-5 so wouldnt have to time to spend all day and night working on a car and the rest wouldnt have a clue where to start anyway

lol, for Mike any profit no matter how small is a bonus...he always manages to batter the price down when he buys them right enough, when he bought that merc from Bavaria made me laugh, the geezer was having none of it...

its not about the mark ups

this isnt entitled "how to make easy money" if you listen to what they say, its not about the money, its about restoring classic cars and getting them back on the road.

You look at the programme from totally the wrong angle, its entertainment, not a documentary of how they intend to make a living.

I don't think that is the point of the program. Just more of a excuse as a reason to make the program. I think it is aimed more at being educational rather than anything.

I know nothing about car mechanics so watch the show to get a bit of insight. I think Ed is a genius, I wish he was my friend :)

I do like this show, there's been a couple of really funny ones though. First the one with the SJ which turns out to be knackered and will never have a chance of passing another MOT so they spend loads of money on it then sell it with no MOT. Second the one where he's doing a 928 IIRC with some beautiful BBS split rims which he swaps for some horrible teledials. You can see the dollar signs in the guys eyes as he hands the teledials over telling Mike he's doing him a favour :D.

It's quite an amusing program - the number of times Mike says "I've always had a soft spot for these...",

oh, and;

Mike: "Seller has advertised these headlamps for £500, but I'm used to bargaining; I'll get them to knock off a few hundred quid..."
Seller: <shows headlamps>
Mike: "Great, how about £300, for the trade"
Seller: "Well, they're advertised for £500, so..."
Mike: "You're driving a hard bargain, £450?"
Seller: "No.."
Mike: "£500 then? Hold out your hand fella..."

I love Wheeler Dealers.

Yeah Mike is bloody annoying but the show is excellent and very interesting.

I'll definitely be watching.
