My favourite band, awesome.

Have you got any of the renegades EPs?

Just listened, it's good. Honestly, I was expecting more of a departure from their last album with them moving away from their label, but that's fine too as I loved Silent Cry and wouldn't mind more of that!

Nope, don't think I've heard all of the Renegades stuff either. For some reason I suspect it'll be completely different to the Feeder stuff and possibly not to my taste. I could be wrong though! How is it?

I want a new album like Comfort in Sound. I absolutely love that.
 
I don't think there'll be another Comfort In Sound unless Taka pops his cloggs this time! :eek:

I don't have the renegades EPs either, but I've heard quite a few tracks and it's very similar to feeder, often more upbeat and aggressive.
 
I used to love Feeder but then I realised that the lyrics in most of the newer songs sound the same. They're all filled with meaningless metaphors that sound cheesy. Once you notice it you can't ignore it. Echo Park was their finest hour.

Having listened to the single in the OP it actually sounds like an improvement. Perhaps they're on the way up again.
 
Have you heard the last album Silent Cry? I think that was a significant improvement and a lot more catchy and varied compared to the previous one. You might like it, though Feeder have always had somewhat 'ham fisted' lyrics, I don't think that will ever change, it's just how they are. I enjoy the guitar and melodies more than lyrics anyway.
 
One thing I've always thought though, is that they are so underrated. I know a lot of people who haven't even heard of them! :o

Silent Cry was pretty good. It came out just around the same time a lot of personal stuff was happening and I just played the album over and over. Brings it all back now!

Love Pollution will probably always be my favourite from them though. Top listener for it on Last.fm with 1,425 plays. :eek: :p

I think they're still selling it on the website at the moment so I might give it a try.
 
Never thought they got over the death of the drummer and their music just went very whiney, sad and boring imo apart from a few songs.

This sounds good and need more stuff like this :D

Comfort In Sound was the only album that really was affected by Jon I think, but it also produced some of their best and most emotional tracks to date. They've changed a lot since then, and I'm guessing you haven't heard the last album as it's anything but whiney, sad and boring! You can get it for a couple of quid now, really worth checking it out - Silent Cry. Also their side project Renegades and the new album hark back to the Feeder of old a lot more, though personally I think they should incorporate more of their really early albums which were fun and edgy.
 
Not sure I even have silent cry. Will go have a listen online and will get renegades as well :)

Echo Park really is one of my favourite albums, and feeder were the first band I ever went to see live.

Still love them dearly
 
Seems odd to me the number of people who really rate Echo Park, for me that album is Feeders lowest ebb. It smacks of corperate sell out and the comercial success it gained backs this up, for me it was like they got frustrated of trying to make a break through with there own style so just decided to release an album of easy comercial guff that was guarenteed to sell. They have got better with every album since but still not reached the highs of polythene.
 
Sweet, thanks for the heads-up. Will check this out - Feeder were the first band I ever saw live when I was 14 or something, on their Echo Park tour - still one of the best gigs I've seen.

Agreed, I don't listen to that album all that often, it's very 'mainstream' for want of a better word. Polythene optimises them for me, the newer albums are more heavy like that.
