Gaming laptop

First off am very jealous, would love to spend this type off money on a laptop, personally for gaming i would go Alienware laptop.

Everywhere I look I see very bad things about Alienware I doubt. The machines are ok value wise and look the business but stories of multiple failures and poor aftersales are everywhere. I have ordered a Kobalt G860 on the advice of many a happy customer, although dont expct to get one tomorrow as there is a back log of builds due to the volcano!!!

My M15X arrived today and so far it has been phenomenal :D and so far my experiences with reps etc have been great

Will update the gpu to a 5870m soon too so it's s'll good!

I would suggest the M17X for your needs but once you add the RLED + x-fire it costs a fortune :(

I'd suggest taking a look at Kobalt's machines. There arent many 18" laptops so you may need to settle for a 17".
I'm an ex-Alienware customer, and despite some minor issues because they're a smaller company, and longer lead times ordering machines because of that, they're still giving me far an away better service than Alienware did, which is why I'm now ex-Alienware.

Unfortunately the UK market is a bit **** for competition in this area, you're either looking at Kobalt and the couple of other Clevo resellers, or Alienware, for a gaming laptop, with occasional interludes from the likes of Asus and MSI, WHEN thier kit reaches our shores and doesnt cost 2x what it should.

The votex i7 also looks like a pretty well specced out machine for the money from pcspecialists. I am planning to get a slightly cheaper machine from them soon as for the cash they seem to be very competative and put decent graphics in, don't know about service etc but delivery isn't too bad either.

i got myself the Asus G73JH-A1 fab laptop for the price if you can stretch your budget a little more i think you wouldnt be disapointed getting it,

The ASUS is great, but heavily, no, massively, overpriced compared to the US. Last time I checked the Clevo models with 5870 were quite a sum cheaper.

Its true, the UK in general is very expensive for performance range laptops in general. Its why that Advent with a quad and 4850 was so popular when it hit sub 1k in clearance, the people who got the last ones at about 600 were very lucky!
