:( Ok i am SUPER gutted :(

Installed a theme from Cydia last night and it has completely trashed my iPhone !, ive tried everything, but the phone will not restore and when i insert an O2 sim its telling me its not a recognised carrier, bought off ebay 12 months go and im thinking the origional carrier was not O2 hence having no luck with firmware upgrade and O2 sim
Im using TMobile for every day iPhone use when it was jailbroke and unlocked
So its on the Bay as spares or repairs

So im after another phone. Do I get another iPhone ? or is there anything else thats competing with this gaint ? I really did love the iPhone tho

Any suggestions or help would be very very very much appreciated

ive tried dfu mode, ive tried everything its gone
install new firmware and it still rejecys the o2 sim

it was simple yet very very effective
had a google g1 and g2, wasnt impressed with the android system, very slow compared to apple
has this changed ?

It's still sluggish compared to the iPhone OS but it's more open, saying that, I'd still take a jailbroken iPhone over the Desire I own.

you watch ill buy this and there will be an unlock for 3.1.3 firmware !!!!
 
well ive just bought b/n factory unlocked to all networks £300 3g 8gb
i may just keep the old one and wait for 4.0 and hope geohot comes up wth the goods
im so so gutted this happened, i wont be using cydia again !!!! i cant believe that a dodgy theme copuld cause so so much greif !!

Honestly tho, it was probably jailbroken when you got it and unlocked.

So now you cannot activate it as it was not on o2 to begin with.

So borrow someone elses sim or go get yourself one of each on pay and go to activate it.

Then re-jailbreak and unlock

its not native to O2, i think its an AT & T
believe me ive tried everything, apple have gone to great lengths to stop you even downgrading your firmware, if this wanst the case i could have sorted it
 
You got it from an american seller?

Worth a try with other sims, Orange etc. instead of having a nice door stop.

Or getyourself an AT&T sim.

It is that simple :p

You can get a useable 3.1.2 firmware in various places, you just need to look. I've downgraded to 3.1.2 using one long since the 3.1.3 firmware was released.
 
no i got it from a shop on the bay, in october,
i dont even know if it is at & t, i just know it wont use tmobile and o2,
its not going to be any other uk network

but itunes will not let you downgrade anymore
i get so far with the update, then it tells me its not able to proceed
