Just voted, slight ripoff warning ..

It's a bit obvious who they are, they have rosettes on saying who they're working for!
Perhaps they just want stats. I have never had any direct mail or any attention from political parties after my vote.

This has happened in the 6 General Elections I've been eligible to vote in and each time I just say no when they ask to see my card. The bloke today was somewhat taken aback and it made me smile. I bet most people, who'd been in before me, had just shown him.

None at our polling station, but as most of the voters would vote for labour if the candidate was pedobear it's probably academic...

The guy I showed my card to wasn't in a shiny suit or anything. He was this white-haired bearded bloke wearing a shabby green jacket and a yellow LibDem rosette. :D

It actually said on my voting card that I didn't have to show it to anyone, just that it would save time if I did. And I have no problem with the idea of getting political leaflets in 5 years time, because I will almost certainly have moved out by then. :p

Doddering old Granny on the front door of our polling station sporting a blue rosette. She asked me for my card so I said "where have you hidden the polling box?" to which she replied "they're inside". So off I went giving her a pleasant smile and a little wave.

Cheers for the heads up.

Whats the big deal? I walked to the door, they took the number on the top of my form, I walked in, I gave the admin people my card, they produced me with a voting card, I walked over, ticked a box, popped it in the box, walked out

Nothing wrong with this? No one said anything else to me, asked me any questions etc.

A lady tried to get my card from me as I walked into the polling station. Politely told her no and went inside to vote. Had my Mum do the same after reading this as well.

The ladies inside were pretty clear to us that you didn't have to give her the card if you didn't want to - just a shame the lady outside doesn't tell you that and people willingly hand it over because she asked.

I didn't notice anyone. When I arrived, there were already a few people going in at the same time. I suppose one of them got collared, but I just walked in.

Was four outside my polling station.

Liberal, Tory, Labour and a Green party guy?

They said they'd phone me up to tell me to vote if I didn't give them my number o.0

Which would be interesting since there's three hours of voting time left.

Gave them my number anyway.

Couldn't be bothered arguing, didn't really give a dam, they've got my address, I have a massive stack of propaganda from all of them to prove it.

I thought this had been going on for years in marginals - don't get anyone at mine because it's a very very safe labour seat - nobody cares.
+1

Also the canvassers will have noted down when out pounding the streets 'Mrs Miggins 1 The High Street' said she was going for us but she hasn't turned up yet, and about 8PM they'll phone her up checking that she's OK and offer her a lift...

I did the sheeple thing, didn't think twice about it. After thinking twice about it, it doesn't really bother me. No harm in being better informed next time round.

I wonder if the "I've voted" facebook button is used in the same way.
