Whne looking at my netgear router stats i come across this stats page which shows me this:

Connection Speed 768 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 60 db 15.5 db
Noise Margin 12 db 19 db

Going be these figures, should i be getting such a low downstream of 798kbps?
It annoyingly seems to never manifest itself to above a donwload speed of 50kb/s unless its late late at night.

If it helps i'm on AOL, who i hate, and want to bring about the destruction of.

I have tried on several occasions but i just get put on hold for hours befor i get through to anyone, if i get through its someone i cant understand due to a heavy foreign accent and bad english and when i get pased that i get elevated and nothing happens. I wnt some ammunition to go in with so i can skip the majority of the process.

just phone up and ask for the cancellation department.

I'm not well clued up about line stats however I experienced similar stats recently (-70dB attenuation, ~10dB noise margin & only around 700kbps/200kbps) and after a few days of that my line completetly died. A few calls to the ISP (talktalk) got BT to come along and replace a large piece of external cabling, now I'm getting ~8500kbps/1000kbps.

Have you tried testing it by removing all other equipment and connecting the modem directly into the test port of the main BT socket?
