In my opinion, Civ3 was the worst of the series. If you have 4, you'll never play 3.

Never played a Civ game before. Whats the general idea of the game? Worth getting IV?

General idea of the game start with 1 settler. city building unit, research new tech, build more cities, build wonders of the world, fight wars, build an empire, dominate people with your superior culture, or nuke the hell out of them.

Many ways to win by my favourite is building the spaceship and being first to Alpha centari ! Turn based, lots of micro management or let the Ai take control and focus on the fun parts ( WARRRRR!!!)

its a great series, i actually think 3 is on par with 4 - 4 dumbed it down a touch- certainly a good way to kill plenty of hours.

It most certainly is - this is what we did for some very long games as you can have a website open to be doing something else / watch a dvd or whatever

I went for the complete Civ IV collection from Steam. Never played them before but I've always wanted to, so I'm looking forward to it .

Ended up going for Colonisation as it was the only one I was missing on steam!

@molinari - prepare to loose a few days to just one or two games

Oh and Beyond the Sword is only one you'd really need to bother with as you get all the same units etc as Vanilla/Warlords and more!

i splashed out on the 75p for III and it wasn't as good as i remember haha. I still prefer the units in III but 4 really just looks sounds, and plays better.
