Wheeler Dealers New Series

I absolutely detest Mike Brewer, for the above reasons. Set it to record though as its still an interesting programme.

record allows you to fast forward the bits he does every episode such as:

number 1) the car after the test drive at the end is always amazing. Its always sweet as a nut

Number 2) he has always wanted one of whatever car they are doing at the momment

number 3) he always has to "turn up" at the end of the first part and ask Edd what he's done and look all surprised.

etc..

Fast forward that and just watch edd doing his stuff and its good entertainment.

they really didnt show a lot of technical info in the episodes ive seen. i was amazed with the porsche 928 episode where they stripped that almost to bare shell to resray... those things are pigs to work on

I know nothing about car mechanics so watch the show to get a bit of insight. I think Ed is a genius, I wish he was my friend :)
Me too, I find it really interesting watching how it all comes apart and goes back together again. I'd really like to have the garage and kit to be able to service my car, it'd keep me busy for hours!

Ed seems like a really nice guy too, why can't there be more mechanics like him.

they show you about 2% of the detail requred. they dont show you the damaged, rounded, corroded, seized bolts. the parts that come off and break in your hands, the total nightmare involved in trying torque wrench settings to put it all back together

But then each show would take 2 weeks to watch instead of the usual 60mins.....

They can't cover everything they do for each car, they do cover seized bits and how to deal with them in other wheeler dealer eps.

I must say what they did to that poor 944 turbo was shocking, orange wheels?...and the camper van they couldn't sell. Apart from that every other episode I can remember has been a good watch.

I suspect edd didn't want them to be able to sell that camper. Ignoring the fact it's a TV program so the whole thing would have been planned start to finish.

It's quite an amusing program - the number of times Mike says "I've always had a soft spot for these...",

oh, and;

Mike: "Seller has advertised these headlamps for £500, but I'm used to bargaining; I'll get them to knock off a few hundred quid..."
Seller: <shows headlamps>
Mike: "Great, how about £300, for the trade"
Seller: "Well, they're advertised for £500, so..."
Mike: "You're driving a hard bargain, £450?"
Seller: "No.."
Mike: "£500 then? Hold out your hand fella..."

HAHA awesome, to the tee :)

Mike Brewer isn't much of a 'Wheeler Dealer' is he?

Doesn't he spend about £1000 on bits, £500 for the car and expects to make £3000 but accepts the guy's offer at something stupid like £1501?

sweet as a nut!

Just watched the online piece about the Audi Quattro.

He says "audi have their brilliant straight 4, 5 pot audi lump". It's deffo a straight 5 and he says its a 5 pot too!

Clearly demonstrates he has no idea. Pass for me then.

Well I didn't want to be as blunt as that and can only go from the car that was bought by someone and later found to be a bit of a bodge, can't remember where I read it, think it might have been a mate of a mate actually.

If you kind of ignore the obvious mistake and focus more on edd, some of the basic mechanics that can be learned I think are good. Try watching the TVR S2 episode and others before casting it off
