just took my iphone out my pocket to find it wouldnt do anything, wont respond from the home button or the top button, wont do anything when put in dock, itunes doesnt find it.

It as if its powered off but i cant turn it on because nothing happens when i press anything.

any ideas on what to do/try?

had another problem, iphone decided there was no sim in the phone so i couldnt use it at all which was bad timing at work :(

when i got home i took the sim out and put it back in and that fixed it.

is this signs of something worse that could go wrong?

I had both these issues with my 3G earlier this year. The none response hasn't repeated itself since, and a clean of the sim and a blast of air into the sim slot to clean out any dirt or dust that might have squeezed it's way in, seemed to do the trick with preventing the sim issue returning.

What version os are you using? As the non-turning on thing used to happen to me, but it was fixed in an update and has not happened since.

the sim slot thing only been taken out once in the phones life time which was when i put the sim in for the first time.

never had either of the above happen before, first time for both.

Yep same here, but it came up with the no sim message which was cleared with an off/on.

Happened again the following day so I decided to power off, do the clean and power back on. Hasn't happened since so might be worth a try.

Just had mine do the no boot this morning and returning invalid messages to itunes, that was a really scary moment!

Thankfully a quick search here saw this and held the 2 buttons down longer than I had been doing before, and things see, ok, lets just hope it doesn't happen again!

Thanks for having this problem before, although close to me!
