Hi,

Would this card be good enough to run Splinter Cell Conviction (@1280x1024) on a system with a dual core intel cant remember model, roughly 12 months old) clocked to 3.4ghz with 4gb ram? OS is Windows XP.

Graphics Engine GeForce GT 220
Bus Standard PCI Express x16 2.0
Memory Type GDDR3
Memory Size(MB) 1024
Memory Interface 128bits
Core Clock Speed(MHz) 650
Memory Clock Speed(MHz) 1600
DVI Output 1
D-SUB Output 1
HDMI-Output 1
HDCP Support Yes
Dual-link DVI Yes
HDMI Support Yes
Display Ouput(Max Resolution) 2560x1600
RAMDACs 400
DirectX Version Support 10.1
OpenGL Version Support 3.1

The reason for this selection was it looked like good value and performance for that money.

It'll run the game on low settings - possibly medium, at a push.

Ok, would money be best spent on something like the HD5670 1GB GDDR5? Medium setting would be ok for me, normally a console gamer these days but splinter cell isnt on PS3 :)

no to the memory question, a 1gb gt220 would not be faster than a 512mb hd5770 for example

what exactly is your budget?

finding a second hand 4850 would serve you well

Second hand 4850, 8800GT, 9800GT or even a 9600GT, 4830 would be a far better propostion, these can be had for as little as 40-50 quid if you hunt around.

Bear in mind though that you'll need a half decent psu to run these cards, not some 300 Watt generic carp ;)

I don't believe the GT240 needs the PCI-E 6-pin so should run fine on a bog standard PSU.

Yes true, this is why I mentioned the fact that he'd need a half decent psu.

However you can get the green edition 9800GT fairly cheap nowadays, this also takes its power just from the pci-e slot and would comfortably beat the GT240,

as would all the cards I mentioned in my previous post.
