I just had a new one arrive today, so casually - as you do -went to sign the back (so it's 'valid') and ended up doing perhaps the worst version of my signature in known existance - it actually doesn't look anything like it. The pen caught part of the card and my wrist is still slightly swollen from a sprain, so naturally I ended up formulating something akin to what a three year-old would demand you hang up on your fridge. Sod's law that was going to happen really. :p

Just hoping it doesn't cause me any inconvenience in the future now. I only have to wait until 2013 to try again. :D

Yeah, yeah. Cool story bro. :o

My signature looks like I had a stroke while I did it, it's progressively got lamer and lamer as time's gone on and is now essentially a squiggly line of random length and pattern.

It says on the back of the card, if you don't sign it then it technically isn't valid. That's the only reason I sign them these days. ;)

Mine looks like a chicken signed it.

I'm desperately trying to imagine what that actually looks like but superbly failing.

A pub/restaurant kicked up a fuss last year, apparently my signature didn't look enough like the one on the card! When I re-signed I just did the same signature as before, and they accepted it!

most shops dont even compare it anyway, I signed for someone elses using my signature once (totally different) and the girl looked at them both and handed it back no questions asked.

Some shops still get you to sign for a refund so it's best to have it done. I have accepted photo ID in place of a signature though.

Even if it's a bad version of your sig it should be accepted as handwriting has similar qualities no matter how you write something down.

A number of people who I used to work with didn't put there signature but instead wrote "ASK FOR IDENTIFICATION." Pretty strange I first thought then realised it's another good security measure should your card get lost/stolen.

On a night out when about to pay by card I noticed that I hadn't signed my new card. Cue me signing it while drunk resulting in a signature bearing no resemblance to my proper one. :D

I just drew a smiley face on mine. I don't see any point in signing it, no one checks, and signatures can't be easily faked anyway.
