Guy from NI wants to trade guitars - Do I trust him?

Ive dealt with a few guys from Ireland and NI when selling stuff. I feel slightly sorry for them because not many people from this side of the water trusts them with regards to buying and selling and they have to go the extra mile to assure the other party.
I sold a car to a guy from Dublin and he paid me full asking price, sent me a 10% deposit (£1200) as well as his address and passport details! If thats not assurance I dont know what is.

If you want i shall act as a 3rd party delivery receiver. You post me your guitar, and ill collect his, once i have both guitars in my possesion i shall *FILE MISSING* to Mexico. How does that sound?

I dont think its anything to do with Northern Eireland its more to do with Gumtree.

Since when was Northern Eireland synomonous with thievery ?

RedDan got it right.
It's not like there's a contract or anything, verbal I guess... but still.
I'd rather not have to post guitars anywhere until I know I'll get my payment.

I think this needs that alan partidge quote "its only £20 on the plane" "urm i think thats what puts me off"

Anyway good luck... :D

Blood???

I posted a gumtree ad and he responded with an offer to trade for a different guitar. The trade is worth it imo - pretty fair... If it's all legit.

He own's this company apparently, http://www.xtremelightingni.com/index.html
I had a quick chat with him on the phone and he seems like a nice guy, and I find with musicians dealing in guitars there tends to be a mutual trust aspect that we all just have to deal with becuase in the guitar trading/buying/selling world nobody want's to get burned. I'm fairly certain he's a genunine musician... we were talking about guitars and basses and amps etc.

Just being careful really, I'd hate to lose the guitar and not get the other one in return as it's worth a fair amount. I'm just about to send the email with my adress, is there anything you think I should stick in there for safety purposes?
I've said I'd send mine off this thursday or friday via 1st class recorded delivery.

Or would you guys be totally dubious? Tell me what you think.

Dont send 1st class recorded as it wont be properly insured. Send parcel force 48 with enhanced compensation which will be a similar price or special delivery for a few quid more.

thanks robert.

Im sorry but that reads VERY dodgily to me, regardless of where the person is from, I'd wait until you get his Guitar first, else you might end up regretting it.

Even if he is trying to con you using real details, it's not like there's a great likelihood of you showing up on his doorstep when you have to fly/take a boat there and so on :p
