Street Fighter (SFIV, SSFIV, HDR)

Why do people send abusive messages after losing? Really can't see the point! A Zangeif messaged me calling me a lame scrub after I perfected him twice by kiting him with fireballs. I replied telling him how he can close in on me better and he replied with 'I don't speak virgin, blocking communications now' Just seems daft!

I don't even reply to messages i get unless it's something like 'gg'. If someone gets upset over losing and sends me an abusive message I don't even bother wasting time replying let alone telling them how they should have played

I keep getting abusive messages on psn :(

mostly people who play ryu or ken really bad, they rage even tho I'm playing Juri
I think out of 8 messages 2 have been good ones, one asking me to teach someone dudley and another was saying my Juri was sick.
I just remove the abusive messages :(

seems like 70% of the time I'm playing vs ken or ryu still

got gobsmacked earlier by t-hawk, he took 75% of my health with his ultra! I spent ages getting him down to 25% health and he pulled that out (online)

Well when I say mash... literally...

2 or 3 cr.lps and then follow up with cr.mp
or crlk crlp crmp but for some reason (maybe lag?) theyre not pulling off and instead it just seems like a string of crlps

That's what happens when you mash.

You need to link the clp's not chain them.

I'm back in brum!

Link timing online will undoubtedly vary from player to player depending on ping etc, which makes it very difficult imho to ensure that you start the next hit prematurely or too late.

But in fairness I havent even mastered it in Training so I know that I have to work on it.

The difference between linking and chaining shouldn't be affected by online play, it's only really 1-2 frame links like rogs upper loops and jab to ultra that get affected.

Good games artheas, think the final score was 13-21 to you, you've got one mean Gouken!

Well played against my sim, i don't think i blocked one of Ibukis slide under thing, got so annoying!

Well my new stick seems to be doing the job because I'm tearing through Sagat's trials now and I was having loads of bother doing the combos with the pad.

Trouble is I've hit a wall with hard trial 3 cause it's the first one with a FADC in it:
Jumping Hard Kick, Crouching Medium Punch, Hard Tiger Uppercut, FADC, Hard Kick, Tiger Destruction.

Just now I'm going only for the hard tiger uppercut into the FADC but Sagat is well in the air before I've even thought about pressing the focus attack buttons. Is there a trick to it or do you just need lightning fast reactions?

As soon as you do the motion for uppercut, you need to cancel and dash forward.

If you're new to fadc, then go into training and practice, set the dummy to all block, set your super to infinite and just practice getting the cancels.

I've found that double tapping the two mediums helps me to cancel, i time it together with the dash, so both my hands do two inputs.

At first you'll find yourself just cancelling, where you get the orange focus attack, but train your hands to dash twice and you'll get used to it

If a game is even remotely laggy, your frame rate will vary and throw your timing off, you have to effectively hit confirm in order to ensure correct timing to link (rather than basing it on a rhythm of timing you have gotten used to by playing offline or against a CPU).

I dont have extensive experience of playing with other characters like you do K, but I would say that out of the characters I have played, Guiles link combo is the most unforgiving.

Kreeeee is there any chance I can have my stick for Sunday?

If not it's alright I can pop down during the week, hopefully see you Sunday though for some games regardless. :)

Yea great session :D

In the Ibuki vs Dhalsim match, at first it felt like the slide-grab move grabbed your limbs very easily
I tried it some more later, but then it seemed like i got hit more often than not. It might be that if i'm at the end of the limb when contact is made, i get hit. If i'm in the middle of the limb, i hit you instead. Which makes sense really now that i think about it.
It might be a bad matchup for Sim.

Ok, can someone more skilled than me figure out when i should be FADCing in the full target combo (lp mp hp hk) into Ultra with Guy? I can't seem to find out where the timing lies.

After the HK? :p
The input timing is rather lenient for the HK, so instead of FADCing depending on when you press HK, you should focus cancel when you see HK come out.

You'd only ever want to FADC into ultra if your opponent was about 2/3 of a screen away from the edge of the stage.

Ok i'll try that then. I can do it *sometimes* but it's very unreliable, the FADC seems to come out sometimes and not others. Afaik there's no link into ultra that can be done without the opponent in the corner which is a shame. I can't see it being amazingly useful in matches at my current skill level, but i want to be able to do it mainly to improve my accuracy and dexterity.

I agree that a frame or 2 ruins links (move gets blocked or doesn't come out at all) but you shouldn't be getting chains out of it.

Guile's is about as hard as Ryu's cmp cmp chk, Akuma's hk lp sweep and Rog's ex upper loops. It's certainly not the easiest thing in the world but once it's in your muscle memory you should be fine in 5 bar online matches without lag spikes (although I've never had a game without intermittent lag, that's just the nature of packet and priority based IP's).

Well I suppose I could get it done, but the gf's dad is down for the weekend so we're showing him around Brum today/tomorrow.

Took your advice just now Artheas and managed to do it three times in ten attempts. Still not good, but a hell of an improvement over what it was before trying it that way so thanks.
