I'm so thick sometimes but I'm going around in circles.

I want to report a member to Ebay who took my money, sent me a dodgy item, I sent it back for a refund but after a month I still haven't received anything.
I also paid through Paypal.

Where exactly do I go to complain?
I clicked on Ebay Buyer Protection but got nowhere

open a dispute in paypal? not sure if that the proper procedure but if you can link to the ebay auction and proove you sent the item back i would like to think they would side with you.

paypal is like russian roulete with half the chamber filled with bullets

does proof of posting proove you sent an item to XXX address? i thought you had to provide a tracking # to paypal anyway.

how much was the item worth?

no, it only proves it was posted, so you could claim from royal fail if the item never turns up

but your right to claim via paypal i belive you have to provide a tracking number!
altought i remember previous thread where someone just madeup a tracking number and it was refunded

£30 - I'm going to have to chalk this down to experience and my first problem with somebody since Ebay started.
I still want to report him though.

did you have to sign for the item? if he didnt send it tracked claim ti paypal you never recieved it :D

i would do that anyway paypal can be very random and some people dont keep the tracking numbers for very long, but if you already left feedback saying you got it i doubt theres any chance

That's what leaving bad feedback is for. Do it and warn people about buying from him.

I'd also avoid buying memory cards (and usb sticks or batteries) from ebay even if the seller has good feedback. They are often fake but a lot of buyers don't realise and leave good feedback.

Right then, I scared him a bit and he's paying up.
I actually told a white lie and said that in 2 months I will be working on the M42 right near to where he lives and I can come round in the works van to collect the money and he sent this reply -

Dear dmpoole,

can u send me your paypal address please.

Sometimes I'm as thick as ****, what would my paypal address be?
My email?

Please put it in big words so I understand.
Thanks

ebay protection = tracked (recorded/special delivery etc) AT ALL TIMES.

As for sending your email, the seller should already have it on their PayPal account. If they refund you using the original transaction in PayPal, they won't pay the original fees.

If they send you the money again via your PayPal registration email, they won't get their fees reimbursed. Tell the seller to log onto PayPal and hit the refund button.
