Granted, music policy and mixing ability is high up on my list, but lighting is the main one for me. I chased a few clubs in the 00s, especially those that has a multicoloured laser (not just green), including DNA (now R.I.P.), the Dome 2 (also R.I.P.). In the late 00s, I found that lighting often depended on the promoter as well as the club itself, especially when you hit the likes of the Q Club in Birmingham. The light jock (i.e. the lighting equivalent to the DJ) is important too. If anyone can please chuck me a few names (in the Midlands) to start me off in the 2010s decade, that would be awesome!

Of course, 4-to-the-floor dance music is preferred :-)
 
Ministry of sound has a pretty decent laser systems, also if you ever been to any of the frantic events like HHA they usually hold in brixton acadamy, equally as good.

Depends really as some events take their own lighting systems aswel as using the clubs.

they're called VJ's ;)

not only do they deal with lighting but the big projectors a lot of clubs have these days.

most dance nights at the junction in cambridge use 'rocketvision', he's a guy in his mid-late 50's :)

they've got 3 screens, plus a few LED bars, lasers amongst all the other standard lighting paraphernalia.

I 'effin love strobes. One of the bands I used to play in had a pretty heavy number where the verse was just palm muted guitars, deep bass and the drummer going sick on the floor tom and bass drum. Played a gig in a local battle of the bands played in a big venue, and when we played that number, during the first verse, all the lights got killed minus two industrial strobes. I was going jumping about on stage, felt trippy while I was doing it.

Saw a video afterwards and it looked spectacular. Shame we didn't win :p
 
I was in some club in Basingstoke about a week ago and I kept getting blinded by green lasers.

Likewise, I was at a gig in Hammersmith the other day and I kept having to look at the ground as the lighting kept blinding me.

I have really light sensitive eyes. :(
 
Qlimax have some insane laser shows. Though its hardly a club. And its totally not in England lol.
But ill still throw it here - not best vid though :(

Jeez DJMK4. That Tidy video, cheers! I went to one of the Prestatyn weekends, in March 2007, which might have been the one before your video. I saw 4 lasers in the main room, so you had a nice step up there :-)

Oli356, thanks for the Qlimax vid. That is pure visual eyecandy.

As for music in general, yeah that's the sort I listen to at Tidy and Qlimax.. 4-to-the-floor hardstyle/house.
 
Dark room + Strobe maybe some lasers.

UV lights are for faggy indie kids who turn into retards at the prospect of "OMGZ UV PAINT I MUST COAT MYSELF IN IT HURR DURR!" I have a real hatred of them
 
Area is mint, I went there for Party Proactive last month.

I have to say the Deadmau5 event last week at Brixton Academy was an absolute dream of visuals but no laser in sight from what I remember.

I've listened to hardstyle/hardcore for quite some time and never heard that being spouted off anyone.

Also Defqon Fireworks > Qlimax Lights


That's where ill be in a month :D

KaHn you lucky son of a bitch! Not a cheap trip either, at least going to Holland doesn't involve a 24hour flight.
They have a load of fireworks as well :P

Apparently the atmosphere at Defqon is a lot better then Qlimax's as its outside :P

would have thought they would have Defqon like while its summer...Though might be to hot then ;)

yer never heard '4-to-the-floor' either :S
 
Been to a few dutch events mate,

Sensation white and black, doing Defqon this year and probs q-base later on, might be doing nightmare in rotterdam aswell, was going to go dominator but no one is going.

I missed out on a load last 2yrs due to the ex so making up for it now, want to do in qontrol, thunderdome and MoH in rotterdam, seen them over here a couple times but not the same.

Its not costing us loads to do defqon, 180 quid thats with flights, accom for 2 nights and tickets :)

Not heard much of the Sensations; last i heard is they stopped one of them and renamed the other lol.

£180 wow cheap. For there and back ;) Tickets are like £40?
I would spend a week in Aus though. I love aussies :P

Yer i saw a MoH thing for umm 31st July? In Glasgow .

Not heard of nightmare ill have to look that one up :P

No one i know even likes Hardstyle... Apart from like one or two, but they wouldn't travel to go to events. =/
-Hoping i meet someone at College next year and the year after who loves hardstyle and hardcore-

My plan is to go to as many as i can in Holland and such, and try to keep away from those damn pills =D Want to learn fluent Dutch as well (probably won't ever happen haha)

Defqon is in Holland mate, Almere, just outside of amsterdam.

Their is a defqon in aus but its not as good/big.

Yeah I'll probs be at the MoH in glasgow aswell, at the hardcore weekender next weekend.
