If we exclude the results from Scotland and Wales from this general election, the result is a Conservative Majority parliament for England.

Given that Wales and Scotland now have their own parliament, is it not time people from these countries had votes excluded from a general election? Were it not for people in Wales and Scotland propping up the Labour seats, we wouldnt be facing a period of uncertainty at all - we'd have a strong Conservative government.

Why is our parliament full of Welsh and Scottish MP's if they have a parliament of their own?

England needs its own Parliament as well with only the major points (defence, health etc) being decided over all in the UK.

No, as the Wesminster parliament still has overall control of the UK, and that includes Scotland and Wales (and Northern Ireland) as well as England.

Because people in Scotland and Wales are binners, that is a PROVEN fact, some bloke on the internet told me so it must be right.

What good will devolution ever bring in the long run? :/

We're supposed to be moving forwards, not backwards or stagnating.

Really? We should be excluded from voting for who represents us in Westminster, ergo the World stage?
Secondly, 'we' - being the Scots - rely on the block grant coming from the UK [funded] parliament. Therefore we have a great interest in who is in charge 'down south'.
It's not a fully devolved parliament that we have up here. Go read up on it before coming here and speaking such tripe!
Also, Wales does not have a parliament.
Sheesh!

Also, why isn't this in the main politics thread?

While I understand the basic point you are trying to make, the money and for most part the laws are made centrally, thus everyone needs representation.
The first thing you should cut is us in NI, we are a massive resource drain, a crazy amount of money is dumped in here to mainly pay spongers, and employ more civil servants than required.
Granted if you dumped us no one would want us, certainly not ROI given their financial mess at the moment, but we are a tremendous drain on any economy.

Completely agree.

They choose to govern England yet make a lot of their own decisions for their own countries, seems somewhat strange. It needs to decided to be run one way or another, devoloution for non or all.

Also find it strange (and annoying) how the majority of the tax pounds comes from England yet we fund completely free education and perscriptions in Scotland

Nothing against the Scottish people as I have a good few friends up there but its a strange system that could do with being sorted.

But England cant have its own parliament anyway, clearly if you want anything English or to even be English (as opposed to British) you are a racist bigot. It must be true because the Scottish priminister making decisions for our country said so

Yes you should be excluded. If you want devolution then have devolution and **** ***. Otherwise shut your yap and get on with supporting the Union. Not rocket science really.

Well that's a wonderful view to have isn't it?
Very clever.
It's amusing how many people spout such rubbish yet have no clue about the workings of the Union or the politics of Great Britain.

Idiots, I like to call them.

Been on the outside it's funny to listen to the panic over a hung parliament. Britain had a 'strong' tory government in the 80's and early 90's, followed by a 'strong' Labour government for 13 years and yet the country is still screwed(I don't think ye know how badly yet- once they start introducing £40-50bn worth of adjustments in a single budget it will sink in). 'Strong' governments aren't worth anything if they are following stupid policies!

Of course what is likely to happen is that the Tory's will get in and they will be the ones that will get all the blame for the massive cuts and tax hikes which will lead to another 10-15 years of 'strong' Labour government!

The question has been answerwed correctly above.

However, I would state that when it comes to legislation that affects England only, then their MPs are the only ones that should be allowed a vote. Scottish MPs should only be allowed to vote on UK wide legislation.
