A Chrysler Neon? Where did THAT come from?

Like I said, they are usually dirt cheap to insure and getting insurance below a grand seems to be quite important to the OP.

Just a suggestion...

Isn't part of insurance down to the availability and cost of parts? I find it hard to believe a Neon would be so much cheaper to insure than a Focus, that it warrants buying such a poor poor car.

Carlsberg dont make first cars, but if they did, they'd probably be Focus 1.6 Zetecs.
Even sub £1k Mk1's from about 10 years ago? There seems to be a fair few kicking around cheap at reasonably high mileages. Likely to be passable or not?

The more boring and popluar the car the better for insurance:

- Focus
- Astra
- Fiesta
- Punto

All low insurance.

Astra's are nowhere near as bad as Janesey makes out.

There really is little in it and I've driven both (MK1.5 Focus and MK4 Astra) at length, maybe you lot who've driven mark 4 astra's have found the worst possible examples to "evaluate".

The Focus handles better...and thats about it. The Astra isn't bad though.

I'd be suprised if you can pick up a 1.6 Focus worth having for a grand but it's not really my specialist market.

I've been looking recently, there really arent any even advertised for that sort of money that look like they're worth having! 1.4 CLs and the like :(

There's much more in it than that - the Focus is just a bit better in almost every way, making it a much better car overall. Of the 3 MK4 Astras I've driven, the key didnt even fit in the ignition properly on any of them
