Feeling ripped off by Nintendo

So if anyone has seen my other post? I just bought another Wii, and was told by Nintendo that "Due to the license agreement that you agreed to during your digital purchase.. You are not allowed to transfer your digital downloads onto a different machine"

So Nintendo, lets understand this correctly? This is a scam so that you can hopefully squeeze extra money on customers doubling up on their purchases... Hmmmmmm so this is how you treat the very customers that keep your company alive, while you laugh in their faces.

A bit like back in 93, when they released SFII on the SNES, knowing everyone would want it so they charged 65quid for it.. To all of our younger viewers, carts back then were only 39.99.. It was highway robbery, plain and simple.

Anyone who's considering buying a Wii, should put their money into a PS3 where they get HD, ONE controller that does all... and not the need to buy three extra controllers just to make the games work. Much better tech, much better games, and guess what, the ability to transfer your downloads onto a different machine, should you decide to upgrade to a newer model..

LISTEN AND LEARN Nintendo you thieving scumbags. People arn't stupid ( well not all ) they pick up on getting ripped off and eventually nintendo you'll lose out. Just like you did on the N64 and Gamecube.. Think your little novel toy is going to keep your company running high when the talk around the campfire is how much you're ripping people off?

Cya later...

Carts were allways around the £50 to £60 mark for the snes, you had to buy retail in those days and the carts were a lot more expensive than discs to manufacture.

This is the reason why I didnt buy a black Wii to replace my launch white Wii. Too many DD's I dont want to loose. Same pain in the backside with my DSi and DSi XL.

I'm seeing where you went wrong.

How do you know that though, experience or have you researched it?

It's true. You can actually put your games on to about 4 machines and "share" them with your friends.

A friend gave me FF7 on the PS3, I'd bought the original on release on the PS1, but figured it's better to just use it through the PS3. :p

SF2 was a much larger cartridge - 16mbit compared to 4mbit for Super Mario World, Zelda, Pilotwings etc. The ROM was the most expensive part of making up a game's cost and that has to be passed on the wholesalers who pass it on to the retailers. So your example from 1992 doesn't really work. :p

Sorry I was beating around the bush a bit, I know it's possible on PS3, my point was that buying a new console without checking first is an expensive way of finding out whether or not you can transfer the licenses.

I know it sucks that they don't allow you to transfer your licenses, but it's pretty clear in the EULA.

Cry more.

You're not upgrading anyway, you're buying a new machine in a different colour. And you agreed to the license on the downloads, whether you like it or not. And the Wii doesn't need "3 extra controllers" to make it work properly. And everyone knows it's less powerful than a PS3 and doesn't have HD but that's reflected in the price and doesn't seem to be affecting sales. And while the Wii has a lot of dross out for it, it also has the highest rated game of this generation and possibly ever, in Mario Galaxy. And no - your little whine isn't going to stop Nintendo making some serious cash on the Wii while the PS3 and XBox 360 drag their respective company's gaming divisions deeper into the red.

And no, I'm not a fanboy, before anyone pipes up...

Had mine stolen and had to face up to this fact too... it sucks, but please don't point people towards the PS3.

The Wii is a good machine and offers games that just don't exist on the other platforms; super Mario galaxy, Mario kart, red steel 2, to name a few...

That said I agree you should have a license to use it on one machine at any time (i.e. so if you lose your machine or it breaks etc, your "account" is still active). Just like how DLC works on other consoles I suppose
