Well another weekend and more murders on our street, this is the first time its directly affected me in a sense that it was a few metres from my place of work.

How in gods name do these 16 years think? christ the last thing on my mind at that age was attempting to kill someone.

when are the police actually going to do something worth while and punish severely people like this??
It seems their all talk but little action... i wouldnt be surprised if this murder gets one year max.

Lol.. Really? Do you think the level of punishment for these crimes is the problem? Its not even half of it and goes far deeper than that.

I'm a bit confused as to why you are trying to blame the police for this. The police don't give out the sentences.

There was another stabbing at Arsenal station on Saturday night. Don't think it even made the news. Scary thing is, it happened around 23:20 and my girlfriend used the station at around 23:05. I've given up long ago trying to understand why they do it.

That really is shocking, it's sickening the way things have turned with knife crime. I understand that judges are starting to toughen up with knife crime but not tough or fast enough for me.

I noticed an article some bloke was reading on the coach in front of me (in the sun i believe) where a 17 year old was stabbed for protecting his girl friend. Some drunken yob punched his girl friend, he stepped in to protect her only to be stabbed for his trouble. That article really touched me as that could happen to anybody. If somebody punched your girlfriend you would naturally step in to protect them (minus those on this forum who like to exclaim keyboard warrior at any mention of violence). Does make you think twice about going out doesn't it.

EDIT: Ok he was 19 and the yob was on drugs, my mistake

Blame the government who has presided over this massive increase for failing to tackle the causes of crime, instead passing populist nonsense legislation around knives, guns etc rather than looking at the criminals and how to prevent them committing crime with whatever is handy...

i dont solely blame the police , the whole justice system is a big part of the problem... but when you hear stories like this and then a few months later find out they only get x amount of years in prison is just wrong.... you take someones life away like this and yours should be taken away too. no if buts or maybes.
surely that would be as good a deterant as any???

People can no longer protect them selves, so the only people carrying weapons now are criminals and of course they are not going to follow the law if you ban knives. So they should legalize knives and guns again so that the criminals have to think twice about stabbing people, because that person might just have a gun.You can be idealistic about it and blame weapons for violence and say that eventually one day in the future, after enough indoctrination and health and safety and political correctness and fines and institutions and drug laws that not one person out of 60 million is going to get violent with a weapon. I mean realisticly to have 60 million people and a relatively low number of incidents per year is very good. While i am against violence, i am for the right to protect yourself.

As we can see with prohibition of drugs, it does NOT work and i expect to see the same results with the prohibition of weapons. Not to mention how ridiculous it is when i goto tesco and buy some kitchen knives and people look at me like i am going to rob a bank. lol

Personally I don't think you will ever have zero incidents of violence. Not for 100s of years that is. Not until you have completely changed society.

The Finsbury Park murder on Saturday night is just a few mins walk away from me, as it's my local tube station. When I went there yesterday, I'm sure I saw what looked like a blood stain on the ground, especially looking at where it is from the Press photo of the forensics team.

It's pretty sickening though that people seem to just resort to stabbing and killing people over nothing lately. You can understand it more so when it's rival drug dealers/gangs, but it seems more and more that its gangs of young kids who are just in gangs of friends.

Sure, when I was younger there were similar gangs of kids about, and people go beaten up... nobody every resorted to stabbing anyone though.

Blame the media for making it seems as though there has actually been a massive increase... Reality is a bit different but it seems the various stories/hype have worked on at least a couple of posters...

Yes. More knives and guns on the streets is going to solve things

When I was in Oxford it always seemed to be a safe place for a night out, well compared to Plymouth where I'm from anyway. Poor guy and poor family!

Surely that's all down to the CPS though. You can't blame the police for short sentences and leniency when once all the evidence is gathered and statements are taken the ball's in the CPS's court.

That is a heartbreaking story.

It's time to reclaim our streets and give the thugs a good kicking like they did in my day.
